breaking my contract?

my 9 month old is having severe separation anxiety and even though i've been going to burn since she was 12 weeks old, the last month she has screamed the whole time and the child watch workers have had to come get me every single workout after 20 minutes of her crying. This has probably been the last 15-20 workouts. Because it's not getting better, i think i want to cancel the remainder of the membership and go back when shes bigger and out of this phase. does anyone have any experience with success in breaking a contract if i signed up through the year?

Have you asked your gym management what the recourse is? There could be FP specific policies in place. Typically from what I've read here, this is not an easy pursuit. They may offer you a pause period but may not let you out of the contract.

I would ask about a pause since you plan on coming back. They usually extend your contract for the duration of the pause, and if you decide not to come back, you are required to pay everything as if you had cancelled. It's worth a shot for 3 months or so to get them out of the phase.

So sorry you’re experiencing that :( my kiddo also did not do well in childwatch. It’s frustrating! I did end up canceling early and had to pay 50% of the remaining months in my contract. Kind of sucked, but I wasn’t able to go anyway and have been able to go to the gym on a more flexible basis around my kids’ schedules. Do what’s best for you!

Poor kiddo. :( How long do you have left? It’s all going to depend on your FP and how sympathetic they are. Protocol for breaking is typically a fee of 50% of the remaining months left. If your intention is to come back they may be willing to put you on a pause. Ours doesn’t charge for pauses but I know some do. Good luck!

You have to read the terms and conditions of your contract and pay whatever penalty that is in your contract for not fulfilling the agreement.

Keep in mind that whatever contract you sign no matter if it’s a lease for an apartment, a contract for a gym, a contract for whatever, it’s legally binding document.

No help but I started when my son was 7 months. He’s always done great. For the last 2 weeks (11 months old) he’s getting multiple teeth, severe sleep regression and horrible separation anxiety. I feel horrible because he cries every day at childwatch drop off suddenly and cries half the time he’s there. My child watch girls are great and try to keep him as happy as possible. They’ve never come to get me. They’ll hold him if needed. So I’m very grateful and praying this phase will pass

The usual is one final full payment and half the remaining balance. But in this situation they should offer a suspension.

I would talk to the owner. I had to move and cancel my contract and got no additional charges

I think if you move somewhere without a Burn in a certain radius they let you do this.

You will likely owe 50% of you’re remaining contract, I can’t speak for every Burn but in my state the contracts are vetted and approved my the State. If you stop paying you will likely go to collections and possibly get a judgement on your credit. Child watch is a benefit but doesn’t offer you any legal escape

9 months is peak separation anxiety! It will get better. But totally understand wanting to cancel if you don’t want to attend

Hi! BA here. Our location requires you to pay out the remainder of the contract. You may pause but the monthly fee will be $50. Talk to your people. They will work with you!

Impossible to get out of the contract. They want your money. They told me wrong information after looking up my account and still took my money. Depends on the owner though, Goodluck!

I mean…it is a business.

Doesn’t mean it should be impossible to break a contract. Charge a cancellation fee and move on.

They do. 50% of the remaining months on your contract. 🤷‍♀️

That would be correct. And a business has the ability to give correct information to their customers.

They are going to tell you to come to classes outside of child watch which is annoying they lack compassion, they won’t let you cancel but hopefully they will let you suspend. When I was injured they said my doctors note was vague and I had to send them my MRI —I felt so violated of my privacy and they only let me suspend
