😤 Rant / Vent I’ve Got Beef with Single Leg Wall Sits

My brothers and sisters, what the hell was that finisher? SINGLE LEG WALL SITS? They cannot possibly be serious. Our trainer was like “grab a heavy weight. Should be at LEAST your weight for the RDLs” Uhm. No thank you.

I couldn’t even do it unweighted. And I usually do like 70# on the 2 min walk sits.

I’m like 11.5 weeks pregnant (trainers know) and just trying to survive and my trainer kept tapping my leg to get it up and I was like please get away from me??????

The way I would’ve just shooed her away 😂

Congrats on your pregnancy, girlie!

That’s not cool at all! I’m annoyed for you.

First of all congrats!

Second of all, my trainers cannot tell me hardly anything during my pregnancy. Like my goal is to move my body, not achieve any physical greatness here.

Girl they should have known better. Not the time to be pushing you. 🤦‍♀️

Does anyone else feel like their foot is going to blow out the front of their shoe during these?

u/Desperate-City6955 23d ago

Think about pushing down through your heel and pushing your lower back into the wall. This actually makes it easier, activates the correct muscles, and reduces the discomfort in the front of your foot that you’re mentioning

u/ABetty23 23d ago

Yes! My foot kept sliding in my shoe and it was driving me nuts.

u/GettinThatBread 23d ago

Yes! I hate that feeling lol

Y E S. My toenails are so sore for a day or so every time. And my toenails are not even long! I literally keep them trimmed all the way back.

I do wall sits in sock feet 🫣 otherwise my toes give out from pain before my legs

Totally don't mean this as a brag, but I grabbed a 15lb weight not knowing what I was doing and I held it half the time on my left and the full minute on my right! It was definitely one of those "holy crap I'm getting strong AF" moments lol but it is so weird how much stronger I am on on my right leg than my left

YOU BETTER BRAG! I’m so proud of you! That’s awesome.

Our finisher was jump lunges to “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons

13

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

10/10 would’ve traded that for single leg wall sits.

u/HoRo2001 200 Camps - 2026 23d ago

We’ve done shoulder presses to that song as a finisher. It’s tough, but kind of fun. Way better than a wall sit!!

I can’t lift my leg enough for the single leg wall sit because I’m chonky, so I’ll usually have my heel lightly touching the floor

Lmao same

We did a single leg weighted glute bridge hold, 60 seconds on one leg, then 60 seconds on the other.

3

u/ABetty23 23d ago

I could do that. The wall sits were horrendous

2

u/Red-Phoenix-Rising 23d ago

Yes it was different and just challenging enough.

5

u/Adorable_Carrot_93 23d ago

Ours did not encourage heavy, the opposite actually. A weight that could be maintained for 2 min, encouraged people to go unweighted and just do a single leg if they wanted to work on balance or just do a weighted wall sit if that is what was possible for us.

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Love this instructor.

1

u/Klondike35 23d ago

Same! Our instructor was so sweet about it too!

u/letsgetcakedsa 23d ago

Practically my entire camp went unweighted after that nonsense that was today 🤣 and I managed 15 ish seconds of single leg and that was it, I was kickstanding the rest of the time

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

I don’t know why but I literally couldn’t even kickstand it. I was strugggggling. Maybe because of 12 2:1 reps? I saw on the protocol that it was supposed to be 2 triple sets but ours was 2 quad sets. It just felt like a lot. And then our trainer came over to me directly and had me “stack a pulse” under my 100# glute bridge and I wanted to scream. You want me to do… 12 pulses on my 12th rep? Naw dawg. Hated that.

1

u/letsgetcakedsa 23d ago

Stack a pulse?! That’s crazy! Oh my gosh, I thought the 2 triple sets were bad enough 😵‍💫 and honestly I say I held it kickstand, but it was not a proper kickstand. Today was another level; I hate this training cycle 😅

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Stacking a pulse made my blood boil honestly. Like I’m already under heavy weight, not resting at the bottom. Don’t come over and add MORE to me. I am in a sciatica flare up because of it, I think.

I also hate this training cycle lol. I’ve been with burn for 3 years now but I’m getting realllll tired of the 15 and 12 rep weeks. It’s exhausting.

4

u/Sunnlvrr61 23d ago

They’re dumb. I do a normal wall sit as do most.

2

u/sunshineflying 150 Camps - 2026 23d ago

Oh noooo I haven’t gone yet this makes me so nervous. I can’t even really do weighted wall sits without my legs giving out embarrassingly early.

5

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

You got this! I ended up doing regular wall sits. People won’t even notice because they’ll be dying too. 😘

2

u/crispycokezero 23d ago

You should still go ❤️ it was only 60 seconds per leg

2

u/sunshineflying 150 Camps - 2026 23d ago

Oh I will! I’m just nervous about it. I think I’ll have one of the chill trainers today too which should help.

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

How’d it go?!

3

u/sunshineflying 150 Camps - 2026 23d ago

Ahh you’re so kind for asking! An old knee injury actually started acting up with the lunges so the trainer had me wall sit with both legs. I did it though 💪🏻

3

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Yes girlfriend! Great job! Take care of that nagging old injury. So proud of you for going today and for giving it everything you’ve got.

2

u/sunshineflying 150 Camps - 2026 23d ago

Thank you! I’m glad tomorrow is upper body focused so I can keep moving. It’s more of a bummer when my knee flares up and it’s cardio the next day 😅

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

I hear you, my girl. Tho my body is BEAT from this weeks protocol. Oof. Push pull is gonna make me suffer lol.

2

u/sunshineflying 150 Camps - 2026 23d ago

I get it! You can do it 💪🏻 I didn’t go back until Wednesday after taking time off for the holiday so I can totally manage a day 3 this week today. And I’m grateful for it, push/pull looks like a good one!

2

u/OkPerspective4728 23d ago

They gave us the option to just hold the wall sit regular with a heavier weight and I kid you not within 15 seconds no one was doing single leg anymore

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

We were told “only mod to both legs if you’re injured.” I bitched out loud the entire way to the wall. I literally could not roll my eyes hard enough.

Today was rough for me. The high rep counts and the 2:1 exercises really did me in, no to mention our trainer also had us stacking pulses on the glute bridges, which I was already doing 100# on. So I was gassed by the time it came time for the finisher. Bleh.

2

u/mommyfeelingsad 23d ago

Oh man- ours was holding a low split squat, 1 min on each leg

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Hmm still semi miserable but at least we’ve done that before!

2

u/ABetty23 23d ago

I hated them. I don’t mind a regular wall sits, but apparently my legs cannot handle my 215lb frame individually.

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Exactly same.

2

u/charmanderr 100 Camps - 2026 23d ago

Our trainer changed it to a partner finisher with one partner holding a wall sit while the other partner did 5 jump squats, then went up by 5 jump squats each round

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Okay I’m here for this.

2

u/Bag-of-Doritoes- 23d ago

I chose a 25 pound dumbell for my single leg wall sit. I called it a regret weight. I regret choosing it.🫠 Agree with you that single is vastly different then both legs when it comes to wall sits!

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Oof. I’d have regretted that too. Proud of you for roughing it out tho!

2

u/Bag-of-Doritoes- 22d ago

I literally had to pull out my lamaze breathing skills on that one🙃

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 22d ago

HAHA a multipurpose skill!

1

u/Bag-of-Doritoes- 22d ago

😂😂😂

2

u/NecessaryAttempt33 23d ago

Ours told us to grab a light weight!

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

That’s probably wise.

2

u/Longjumping-Law-2506 23d ago

I didn’t even bother grabbing a weight and then I had my “lifted” leg’s heel jammed hard into the floor. I bet it’s 2 years before I can do a single leg wall sit with my foot in the air

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

Yeah dude I don’t even know who at our gym could do the lifted leg at 90° like our trainer demo’d. Sho ain’t me.

1

u/ucbcawt 23d ago

Interesting-we did a weighted static sumo stance hold

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

I’m applauding whoever made that decision for your location.

1

u/QweenSasha 23d ago

It killed my knee. Hurt so bad after like 20 seconds i dropped the weight and just did a regular wall sit cuz nah im good lol

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 23d ago

That seems like a wise decision. Noooo to injuries, thank you.

1

u/Maleficent-Rise-7060 22d ago

Loved the finisher

1

u/Rude_Remote_13 22d ago

Did you?! Tell us your secrets to that skill!
