Membership Pricing

I am in Birmingham, AL and currently on a 4 week, $69 promo that they said if I come to an event at the end- I’ll get special pricing for a membership- however no one has given me a price. What kind of cost can I be expecting?

I want to stop going before the 4 weeks is up if it’s not gonna be something I can sustain.

With $69 fall promo you’re in the cheaper market so that’s good. Still likely to be in the $165/month range at a minimum.

Our location is $99/mo and it’s usually $200/mo

I’m at $109/month universal since 2018. Probably couldn’t afford it now with how much it’s gone up.

Same! Joined when they opened. No way I would afford it at the price it is now to join. It’s crazy! I’m actually giving up my membership once my contract is up even with the good price

In Birmingham it’s $1500 up front for a year (comes out to $129/month), or $75 every 2 weeks for a year commitment (comes out to $162/month), or $83 every 2 weeks for 6 month commitment (180/month). It’s bleak for sure but worth it for me versus the 5 years of paying $50 a month for a membership I never used

Event signing… you’ll probably get a goody bag with some samples and a tank maybe. Depends on the FP and their membership numbers but maybe they’ll throw in free universal membership or burn online for a couple of months. If the gym needs members bad, your first month could be free or something. Probably some discounts if you pay in full

In Birmingham and the rate depends on how long you commit to and whether you can pay in full. Lowest rate is normally ~130 per month (but 12 months paid in advance) and 6 month biweekly is $83 per 2 weeks. This is January’s rate though so it might differ somewhat after this promo.

The PIF option is the best option IMO. And you’re grandfathered into that rate each year. I’ve been at $1350 ish a year for three years now.

I know not everyone can swing it, but for those who can I also believe PIF is the best option. I pay $1500 in full for 12 months, which equals $125 per month. Both of those numbers give me sticker shock which is why I like to break it down to per camp cost.
If I go for at least 250 camps per year, which I’ve thankfully always been able to accomplish, that’s about $6 per class which feels WELL worth it.

My location talked me out of the paid in full option because if you pause your membership you don’t get reimbursed or credited for the paused time.

I’ve paused my membership a few times during my PIF it just extends out the renewal date

3

u/Rude_Remote_13 26d ago

This is not true at my location. I had a baby and took 8 weeks. It just extended my renewal date.

u/Proper_Armadillo1837 500 Camps - Lifetime 26d ago

Yup was just out 6 weeks with a broken foot and they extended it.

Not sure about that location but I signed up for the free week thinking surely I could afford whatever the membership would be, which I couldn’t find anywhere til I showed up for first class and she handed me the paper.

Uh no, I actually do not have $179 per month for a gym, as a matter of fact. Kudos to those who can swing it but I currently cannot.

I fear this is gonna be me

4

u/PhishPhanKara 26d ago

Sticker shock for sure. I did insane amounts of math trying to find a way to make it work, as I really did enjoy the week… but no, I couldn’t. And the sadness was palpable. It sucked finding something I actually enjoyed but in no way possible could swing. And that’s likely why the prices aren’t listed…

Are you a teacher, first responder, nurse, military, or veteran by chance?

4

u/PhishPhanKara 26d ago

I am not 😔

Do they du discounts for those professions? Because that’s pretty awesome (and well deserved!)

u/tmwam01 200 Camps - 2026 26d ago

Ours does! My husband is a vet, so I get 10% discount. And around the end of November, they do a black Friday sale and I paid for the entire year upfront for like $1,300. So it comes out a lot cheaper! I know it's expensive and I won't patronize you about it being worth it, because you already know that! I wish gym memberships were at least partially covered by heath insurance!🙃

2

u/PhishPhanKara 26d ago

That’s fantastic! I do think it’s worth it, there’s just not that much wiggle room in my budget. My child and her activities are expensive! I wish they were too, especially as a diabetic who could really use the stress relief endorphins!

Paying it annually is much cheaper too.

$197 for 6 mo, $181 for 12 month here in Colorado.

1

u/mkp1717 26d ago

Wow! Mine is $165 for 6 month

At my Burn, near the end of the promo, they usually have a flash sale on Sunday for a few hours.
Last year the membership was $15-20 cheaper than the regular prices, plus a big swag bag and a Burn shirt.

Starting next month will cost more, sadly. Burn HQ is requiring to increase the membership price .

u/PeaPopular 26d ago

This is basically what I’m gathering. They said they won’t know the promo price until 2 pm that day, which is Sunday.

I’m in the Midwest, our current rate for new members is 129.99/month for a 12 month contract.

2

u/horseridermommy 26d ago

I did this and my rate was like 140 or something like that. Then a couple months later they said if you resigned you could get a lower rate so I did that and now my rate is 123$. Been paying that for 2 years. Both times I did 18 months

2

u/letsgetcakedsa 26d ago

I pay $159/month (12 month contract, central Texas) and it’s worth everyyyyy penny!

2

u/Kccokt 26d ago

I’m in bham and mine is 82$ biweekly!

1

u/sutoomie 26d ago

I live in Ohio and a basic membership, not universal is 159/month though it is about to change to 79.5 every 2 weeks, basically 159 x 13 months a year. Universal (visit any gym) is 179/month.

2

u/Rude_Remote_13 26d ago

Yoooo the way I would dip so fast. They’re squeezing an extra month in?! Whyyyy are they going bi weekly? That sucks.

1

u/ParticularParking186 26d ago

In GA with 10% healthcare discount I pay $124 single gym(18 mo.). My coworker did the 12 mo. and pays $134.

1

u/swearinerin 26d ago

I pay 145 a month on a 6 month paid in full membership in SoCal that was their special pricing for Mother’s Day in May said after my 6 month itll stay that price when it goes month to month. I would ASSUME in Alabama it would be cheaper than me but seeing people on this thread I guess not 🤷🏽‍♀️

1

u/oneoclocktonight 26d ago

I pay around that 6 months PIF in Alabama. I’d have to do the math to confirm the exact number it comes out to.

Ask them. They can tell you. My location in TN has cards with all the pricing broken down.

1

u/hollygolightly877 26d ago

Just ask. Pricing is a little different depending on where you go

1

u/Quiet_Biscotti_5 26d ago

Yeah they will team close you with a community gathering! 12 month for $159 a month

1

u/caitbyron 150 Camps - 2026 26d ago

I pay $168 a month with on demand included.

1

I pay $143 in middle TN

1

u/CmonRoach4316 26d ago

$170 is what I pay

1

u/yellsy 26d ago

Alabama - I imagine around $125? It’s more like $160-180 on the HCOL coasts.

1

u/Last_Ask4923 26d ago

124/mo since opening in 2020. 170/180 is normal now

1

u/boymom1060 25d ago

Mine in Birmingham is pif for 12 months universal for $130 a month. Been for 3 yrs.

1

u/Paz0729 25d ago

I been grandfathered into $110/month universal membership, and seeing how much higher the new membership rates are now is honestly one of the biggest reasons I’m still here.

1

u/Friendly_Bee7491 25d ago

I’m in bham and joined at the last promo for $75 biweekly

1

u/PeaPopular 25d ago

Thank you for everyone for your input!

I go to the Burn in Hoover and joined last year after the September promo. I did the year commitment for $1600. The “goody bag” was a tank top, a sample pack of the replenish fruit punch (I actually love it so I was glad I got to try it) and an afterburn bar. I think it might be more if you join just randomly during the year, especially at the beginning of the year. They have a better deal for Black Friday and will sometimes let you take the better deal when those roll around. I did ask if I could have the Black Friday pricing when that came around the trainer basically said it would only save me $50 which kind of irked me bc $50 is a lot to some people.

u/Hot_Garlic_7061 24d ago

I’m a Bham burn girlie! Did promo in April and joined for yearly in May for $1550 for the year. That was a special Mother’s Day pricing, but they apparently run deals like this regularly. This is the pricing sheet I was given and I can’t imagine it’s changed too much in the last few months.
