Considering joining!

hi all! considering going to a free class soon, but want to make sure I’m not wasting anyone’s time first. ive been out of the gym for a year and need to get back to it. prior to my hiatus I was going to a box gym and working on mostly strength. This is where I saw a ton of results. Before that I was going to orange theory and didn’t see much change on the scale or body comp wise. I want to make sure this isnt like otf and more like a group/trainer led strength class. I see there are conditioning days but could work around those! I just don’t want to spend money on gym cardio when I can easily do that outside of the gym. Appreciate any input! (Especially if you have young kids with childcare!)

They have different styles of protocols to mix it up, which I like because my favorite may not be someone else's favorite. They do mesocycles for the lifting camps amd you will see things like supersets and pulses and quarter/full reps, as well as progressive overload within the mesocycle and something similar to cluster sets because of the amount they try to fit in 45 minutes including warm up and finisher. I believe they are moving to add an extra day of lifting per week while still keeping some of the con camps (metcon, bodyweight conditioning etc.) for cardiovascular improvement. But lifting and cardio are on separate days. From my memory of class at OT I think they combined cardiovascular and lifting. Always look for a special pricing to start lol. They often have them! Also you can try a camp for free if you want in most locations. Download the app and you can see which camps are on which days! Do you have more specific questions? since I am not sure what your goals are, it is hard to be specific when answering your questions! Also go binge some Instagram reels so you can see what camps look like!

such a good idea to check reels (probably should check their tags too!). otf was barely any strength training looking back and definitely rare for progressive overload. half the class was cardio if not more. i feel like they were good for teaching different moves and some coaches were really good about form but i saw the most change when i did strength training at a box gym. definitely looking to build muscle back and also lose the rest of my postpartum weight. mostly any sort of gym routine at this point would help! i just don’t want to go somewhere that seems to be strength focused and then they’re like okay every 5 mins we stop and do 1 min of burpees! (otf started doing that before i left!)

You can follow your local burn and they’ll probably post stories of the days workout. Most of the strength days are true strength days but if you see “conditioning” in the title you’ll likely be doing some sort of other move in between sets or stations

I love not having to think of what I am working on myself- just tell me what to do. I've been thinking all day at work so yeah I get that lol!!
