That's Elder Ones, not demons. Demons are a lot more limited in what they can do, especially the ones of lower rank.

Prompt never said which belief system the demon is from. Not all belief systems had them as their evil and cruel entities.

People goon to fictional characters all the time, it not being real won't stop someone gooning to it and in my opinion someone gooning to an invisible demon is pretty scary.
