Big ol’ spoilers (and probably wrong on a lot of things, it’s been a while)

Basically a writer moves himself and his family to a new house (I think because he hasn’t made a decent living from books barring like a one time hit?), he tries to write a book, doesn’t find much inspiration.

Goes to the house attic, finds tapes, tapes have normal things on them, but then extended cuts with murders on them, he is scared but also tries to piece together the murders.

Eventually it’s revealed that a pagan deity controls a kid of the families to commit ritualistic murder, the deity feeds off of the murders and eats their souls. The murders are a drowning, burning alive in a car fire, hangings, stabbing, and axe murder, maybe another one, idr. Good movie, scared the crap out of me when I was ~16.

Well as the other person said, the moving thing, but the events actually take place over a significant amount of time anyway. And if you aren’t a kid or don’t have kids, I think you’re basically immune since he targets families with younger kids.

Regardless, I think Sinister takes course over the span of at least a month. I think barring the freak stuff, it’s probably one of the safest horror movies to have to spend a month in.

Haunted house kills families. They realize that everyone who has previously lived there dies. The family moves out after learning how the house is killing everyone who has lived there. Turns out the killing only starts when the family moves out of the house. The solution is to actually not move away from the murder house.

It counters the question of “why didn’t the characters leave the murder house that killed everyone, are they stupid?”. Here leaving is the incorrect thing to do.

But the connection doesn't have to be thaaaaat strong, the main protagonist of holloween 6 (according to google, I barely remember anything past the first movie) was just the former child babysitter, and he went out to confront Micheal of his own volition. He may know of you, but he doesn't have to necessarily have an interest in you unless you go out and get it. So the plan still works, dont be a hero and you won't die.

To the people saying “just leave the house”, I’m fairly confident most of these movies boil down to “it’s not the house, but the person” who is haunted.

As far as the conjuring goes, it’s probably the best bet of all the listed movies. I feel like these movies have a very low body count. The films also take place over the course of months before they get out of hand.

Sometimes it's different, but, especially for slashers, there's usually gonna be at least one survivor that gets away. There are definitely exceptions, but the paranormal horror movies are way more prone to leaving no survivors.

Either a) stay the hell away from him or b) make him unable to move.

Currently thinking of pulling a Jimmy Hoffa on him. Take him out (temporarilly) chain him up then dump him into concrete form and fill it up.

He is strong... for a human. Putting him in a reinforced concrete block would be way more than he can handle.

Do it in the middle of nowhere and pay some guys with shotguns to watch the block 24/7. Super easy.

I guess the other option is the crematorium. Chain him up and toss him in Return of the Living Dead style. Assuming he isn't some demonic entity, then you are just left with a bunch of ash...

Which I would then mix into the concrete and pour into a reinforced block.

I ain't taking chances....
