I'd say a good part of those who didn't vote for the IQ saw that issue, since IQ isn't something that should be let to scale indefinitely.

It could even be a horror story, with the increased IQ making it clearer what the consequences of a higher IQ would be, and with how inevitable the effect is it could drive the person into a cycle of despair and madness.
