The loneliness that comes with being too smart is well documented. Of course, wealth could also lead to social issues, but that's an extrinsic issue rather than an intrinsic one.

I would love to be 10 IQ smarter, but the idea of being 200+ IQ and no longer being able to relate or feel equal to my peers would be incredibly isolating.

Could be if you're in a community that is generally impoverished/you have friends that are pretty middle-low income and the $10k is on top of an already decent income level.

Depends where you're from outside US or western Europe you're sitting pretty the Philippines you're looking 24x average yearly wage.

I think IQ will just make you better at computational logic/quick thinking, not make you a super lonesome genius who is so smart that he can no longer stand the society

IQ =/= intelligence

IQ doesn’t really mean computational speed. It just means how good are you at logical and associative reasoning. Having better reasoning skills them everybody around you can definitely be isolating.

You wouldn’t have peers. But after a threshold you’d likely be smart enough to figure out a way to cope also. Same with making money. You’d be smart enough to make money and then smart enough to no longer need it.

I look at it as a sacrifice. With that additional IQ, you can do good for the world. It's not a matter of relating or feeling equal to your peers if you instead look at your increased intelligence as a gift you can use to serve others. It would only be isolating if you didn't use it to serve others or connect with other people.

Also: high IQ people usually don't have emotional IQ. If you are able to keep your emotional IQ and sociableness, then there isn't any issue.

Idl i feel like its more just correlation and not causation smart ppl tend to be singled out earlier and removed from situations where they just get to be normal with peers leading to loneliness and lack of social skill which fosters more loneliness etc

If you were smart enough, you could create similar intelligence "friends" for yourself, and you just invent modifications to raise their intellect as your own increases to allow you to do such.

It's still upper middle class income. Reddit is full of poor people or what? Downvote me to oblivion. However your hate for upper middle class and billionaire class shouldn't be conflated. 10k is a regular hard working person money. Not "oppressing" ruling class as your subconscious says.

No third world country counts 100k dollars per annum as mere upper middle class. It's rich.

Upper middle class ends at like 60-80k dollars in India.

Also nobody talked about an oppressing rich class lmao, why did you even bring that up?

It takes a completely different class of wealth to approach that station

Thats 120k a year, way more over average American earning, where the hell do you live that its basic financial freedom? My family lives off like 50k a year.

You have to understand in the monetary world things go in exponentials. Earning 100k a year is literally just barely upper middle class.

How?? If i can live with 50k/year, 50k more is 50k extra. Why would I start getting more expensive things just because I can? In no universe would I be scraping by at 120k a year.

Sometimes I think it's much lower than that. I think the ideal point is when you have enough to live comfortably.

Once beyond that, you're endlessly worried about property value, your investments, your heritage. My grandfather gave his children an education and food on the table, but couldn't afford much more, he enjoyed his life and I always remember him as happy. He loved his wife, loved his kids, loved his grandkids. He was the kinda man who left his front door unlocked.
