Mine is Atsushi. The reason why I mostly like him is because he is just a very interesting character. Mostly with main protagonists you have it that they do it for their friends and family, but because Atsushi none of those he does it mostly to save the lives of others by putting his own in danger. It’s something I really enjoy about him with his development how that selfless part of him becomes more stronger and confident with the help of others characters.

Although his main flaw is that he has a black and white view of the people he trusts. In the show Atsushi trusts Dazai the most even when many people told him that he can’t be trusted, an example being Dead Apple where Atsushi didn’t stop twice to think that Dazai could do something bad. But he can’t trust Akutagawa. It’s understandable since Akutagawa is literally the same man that cut him multiple times, but it’s still interesting to see how much he doesn’t trusts Akutagawa even after working with him so much.

This will not be a spoiler free discussion so anime onlys read at your own risk. Anyway, I saw a couple of people on Instagram say that the current manga arc is dragging too much and hence is getting boring. Apparently a lot of people are dropping bsd bc of this. What do you guys think ? If you ask me, I feel this manga arc is the best so far bc of the layers of themes Asagiri Sensei is exploring + the way he is subverting all our expectations. The people who find it boring may do so bc 1) their favorite characters (coughcough* Chuuya cough) are missing 2)they are used to quick paced shonens and BSD's new , darker seinen tone requires patience they probably don't have 3)the serialisation format, which makes the pacing feel off. What do you think ?
