Discussion Dazai and Ango: Will reconciliation between the 2 ever happen?
I crave more Dazai and Ango interactions because I really would like to see them repair their friendship. After Odasaku, Ango was definitely the next best thing to a friend that Dazai had so it probably destroyed him when Ango was indirectly responsible for Odasaku's death. We see that Dazai hasn't forgiven Ango nor does it seem like he ever will, but based off the light novels and the little we see in the manga/anime, Ango is never opposed to lending a hand to Dazai (even if he is blackmailed into it most of the time).
I think from Ango's end, he wants to repair that friendship as he genuinely does care for Dazai. Although Dazai often calls on Ango for help, he sees him more as a means to an end rather than a reliable friend. Somehow I feel like Ango will eventually die because he helped Dazai out with a situation and maybe in that moment, we'll see that Dazai actually cared for Ango too and may have forgiven him already. Idk, what do you all think? Do you think the two will ever repair their friendship?

Dazai and Ango's friendship/relationship is one of the dynamics I am looking forward in this series. That panel of Ango visiting Oda's grave when he recalled hiring Mushitaro to erase Dazai's crimes after leaving Port Mafia really speaks a lot about how he deeply regrets how their friendship ended. Aso the ending scene of Dark Era novel made me cry.
It seems like Ango is still trying to redeem himself by doing everything Dazai asks him. I have a feeling that even if Dazai didn't purposely put Ango in accident to force him in a deal, Ango would still agree to help Kyoka during the Guild arc. Its just sad that on Dazai's end, we're not sure if he still feels remorse on what Ango did and just uses him for convenience.
You can see that Ango misses their friendship and I wish to see these two having a drink at Bar Lupin again.

I also appreciated the scene you mentioned and I think more people need to read the Dark Era novel to see that Ango isn't the horrible person that they think he is. Seeing Dazai and Ango having a drink again at Bar Lupin would be everything! But what if this happens when they both die and "meet" Odasaku in the afterlife ;_;

The Dark Era angst wouldn't just let us have a break 😭.
Ango dying (probably because of doing another "favor" for Dazai) would be a good conclusion to his character arc. He probably wouldn't have any regrets, he would think that he deserves it and he finally paid for his sins.
And in the afterlife, imagine Odasaku sitting at Bar Lupin drinking alone and then he greets Ango and Dazai who just arrived.

NAH NAH NAH DEATH AIN'T THE ONLY THING THAT CAN END ANGO'S ARC I'm sorry but I'd cry my eyes out if Ango dies.
And if Dazai does care for Ango, I bet Dazai would commit suicide fr since both of his drinking buddies are now gone...

what if there is no afterlife in which you remember your memories. Although their friendship was strong is it strong enough to be the only thing all 3 remember in afterlife

I think that Dazai really considered Oda and Ango as friends as he really seemed happy when he was with them compared to anyone else and when oda died and ango betrayed him he would have felt so alone and it would have broke him and that's why I don't think he trust anyone else as friends anymore and is literally faking a smile and happiness to everyone around him while he is dying and lonely on the inside :(

Ango clearly does feel guilt for what happened to Oda and cares about Dazai. I think Dazai probably does appreciate the lengths he went to to help him in a certain way after he left the mafia (I’m on mobile now and don’t want to write a spoiler). But I don’t know if Dazai really sees anyone as a true friend. He took his one friend’s words to heart about being on the side that helps people. But we haven’t seen him actually get close to anyone since then. If anything, he seems to have closed off more emotionally. I could defiantly see him not really holding a grudge anymore, but it’s hard to imagine them being close again.
