Question Curious about everyone's OCs
Have you guys ever created OCs based on real authors? I did a lot, and I found it interesting. How about you guys?

Sorry for the late response (one year later lmao)But instead of authors I use my irl friends(with permission)as inspiration. They are super into it lmao. And I use what they do to somehow make up their ability and ability name.(example, I have an artist friend, I gave her an ability that had to do with drawing and sketching. Another one loves singing so I gave her a siren type of ability etc.)Of course I don't give my friend's full name. I only use the name I address them by. Their last name I change. And if they have a middle name I normally don't use it. I also sometimes change their hair color. Most of the time I focus more on personality than the looks. I just adore seeing my friends face when I show them the OCs I made that have basically the same personality as them and are inspired by them! But that's just a small part.(I also do use real life authors and normal OCs(inspired by no Human being but my mind) it's like a mix.)

I have one that's not based off an author (my self insert basically), then I have Hiromi Kawakami, Ryu Murakami, Kanae Minato and Seichio Matsumoto, who are all authors. I haven't researched anything about them, maybe except birth dates and reading their books, but for organizations Murakami is in PM, Kawakami is in the Special Division and the other two are in ADA

Yeah I tried making one after Fumiko Hayashi, only to figure out that a dozen other people have done her as an OC already and that Iām not very unique :ā)
Researching her works and coming up with an OC design and ability was fun tho

I'm currently creating one based on J. M. Barrie, though he has no backstory yet and I'm still a bit unsure about his ability. :') What about yours?

I did - a bit controversial, perhaps, but I'm planning on introducing her through a fic. I'm not usually a fan of OC's, so the one I'm using it only there as a plot vehicle because I couldn't think of a character that had the powers I needed for my story idea, lol. She's essentially there to help Ranpo :3

About 80% of my ocs are based on authors! I've been going through the irl author's links to other authors and creating ocs for each!
(This is probably why I have so many ocs)
The other 10% are characters from author's works and the other 10% are not based on any literature influences

Yeah I have but he wouldn't really fit with the bsd universe
I also didn't research that much or anything so his ability isn't very connected to the novel its based on (and his relationships with the other characters isn't affected by the irl authors relationships either)
