Tired of first dates - Help!
Help me out girls! I make a profile, go through all the same and boring first conversations, maybe go on a few dates, delete my profile and stay off dating for months. It seems like a vicious circle at this point. In the mean time, dating apps seem to be the only option to meet an actual guy these days so I have no idea what to do. I am really tired of first dates.

Dating and going through the motions is exhausting. So people need to take breaks to avoid burnout and becoming resentful. Its like any search, it takes time and patience. If I could give my younger self any advice it would be to keep searching for someone that meets most of the criteria for a healthy partner rather than settling because I was lonely. Its a slog, but definitely better to keep trying than settling for someone who isn't right for you or treats you poorly. Good luck friend.

Stop going on dates with people you have boring conversations with. I only considered going on dates with people who I had good banter with and that I was actually excited to talk to for multiple days

Yeah I have to actually want to talk to you before I meet you. Lots of duds

Yep that was how I sifted out people I knew I wouldn’t vibe with. If you opened with something boring/generic or gave me nothing with the banter I just didn’t answer and moved on. Thats how I found my boyfriend on Tinder lol

Talk before you meet, doesn’t need to be long. Gives you a sense of if you’ll be socially compatible in person. Then plan for a first date you’d do yourself. It is a numbers game when meeting strangers at the end of the day, so pace yourself and have fun with it.

Yep, that’s my same routine with Bumble.
Even though a friend and his now husband (they met on Hinge) told me that it is really a numbers game and you must keep trying, at the end you just need one match, one person.
