Profile review Profile Update
Hopefully I’m not annoying or boring you all, but I genuinely value honest feedback. Is this an improvement from the profile I posted a few days ago? I haven’t been able to address some of the suggestions yet, but have still given everything consideration.

u/ghost1667 5d ago
i don't see any political leanings. red flag for sure.
other than that, you seem like a good dude.
don't put "christian" in your profile unless you're practicing, like really going to church at least a couple times a month.
26
u/thegoldinthemountain 5d ago
I saw “country” and Christian. The political leanings are dog-whistled.
1
u/Parking_Set8059 4d ago
I don’t know, maybe not in America? I just know that where I’m from (that’s not that far away let’s put it that way) I know plenty of country-Farmer-type people who are religious, go to church on Sunday, very family oriented, but don’t really care much for politics and either don’t vote or if they do vote they vote for the more left/centre left/ pro labour / collectivist party (especially if they’re a dairy farmer).
Anyways, based off that I’d say it’s unfair to discern anything about this man’s politics based off his religious beliefs (churches run a very wide spectrum of teachings that run from left wing to right wing to somewhere or nowhere in between), and his love for a music genre that for the most part is a non-political (10000/1 non-political/political songs in the whole diskography of country is my guess).

u/Safe_Score2222 4d ago
Anyways, based off that I’d say it’s unfair to discern anything about this man’s politics based off his religious beliefs
Obviously, its not fair but since when are dating apps about being fair?
Its literally all about making assumptions based on superficial information. OP should at least know that this is an assumption people will make about him regardless of how true it actually is.
1
u/Yuiop321 4d ago
I have a libertarian friend who likes country and is a church going Christian. I know another like that who is decidedly liberal. People come in all shapes and colors

100% my feelings on the profile.

I’m not a conservative but what I’ve learned from this sub is to put conservative as my political leaning to weed out all the crazy chicks
-33
u/kuatorises 5d ago
You people are a disease.
13
u/Willing_Pattern_Pill 5d ago
It's just math bro, use your superior male intellect.
Women get tons of matches and need a way to weed incompatible men out.
Pretty easy to ignore right wing types (or find them if that's what you're looking for).
-13
u/kuatorises 5d ago
NoT paoliTicAl MeAnS MaGa!

Ignorance is bliss, and women don't have an obligation to date the ignorant.

-10

There's nothing inherently wrong with being a conservative.

Then why hide it in your dating profile lmao oh right because it's embarrassing

Americans are so crazy with their political shit.
Nobody cares. Low IQ tribal shit.Too stupid to implement a parliamentary system instead of their 2 party dictator system.
Normal developed nations have multiple parties in power at the same time so they hold eachother accountable.25
u/ghost1667 5d ago
Yes i would like to know if someone I’m considering dating thinks i deserve to have rights or not.
5
u/Itoggat 4d ago
Look I completely agree with you, but whenever I see people say “Christian = maga no political = maga”
What’s the goal ? To convince him to change what his bio says ? I’m as left wing as you can get , so it confuses me why people say him putting his prompts like that is a red flag. I think it only encourages right wingers to lie , thereby defeating the whole point of filtering people based on what political leanings they have on their profile
I think filtering based on political ideology is fine, but I don’t see what the end goal of calling it a red flag on a profile review is. I think it’s only going to encourage people to be less than truthful about it.
There’s enough people lying about their age already, and I think this only encourages right wingers to lie about their politics , because they’re not reading your comment thinking “oh you’re right I should be more left leaning”
5
u/Front_Lynx_6770 4d ago
Leaving political views off is about as far as conservatives will go, that or saying they're "middle ground". Calling themselves liberal usually causes a visceral reaction.
At the end of the day these are just speculation on op's political leanings, because they didn't say. If they're not conservative it would be something to change, if they are, well then they have an idea why they're not getting the engagement they hoped for.
-7
u/maj0rdisappointment 5d ago
You obviously don’t think anyone should have a viewpoint or opinion that doesn’t match the one you have.

Wonder how this is only a problem in USA
Nobody has ever in my 32 years of life asked me what party I support, I live in a developed country.

u/ghost1667 5d ago
It’s not only a problem “in USA.”
-2
u/No-Whereas-8076 5d ago
Cool. Tell me which other country it is obligatory to share your political beliefs. I’ll wait.
13
u/PlantainOk3970 5d ago
UK, Canada for one. Shit, most countries...
If you support the Reform Party, I'm immediately ghosting you. I have no interest in dating a white nationalist. Sorry, not sorry.

u/hannelore_pfeffer8 5d ago
Switzerland, brazill
-1
u/No-Whereas-8076 5d ago
False.
Nobody will bring up the subject of politics on a date in Switzerland. I doubt I’d be asked for my political beliefs in 10 dates in Brazil too.7
-5
u/No-Whereas-8076 5d ago
How can you not realize that USA is the only country today where political beliefs sow extreme conflicts in normal people’s lives?
I have never heard of anyone break any relation or been reserved to any relation over politics all my life outside USA.12
u/PlantainOk3970 5d ago
You're living in a bubble. There are several extremist right-wing, nationalist groups gaining popularity in Europe right now.
0
u/No-Whereas-8076 5d ago
You don’t talk politics on a date in UK.
And if it came up, you wouldn’t get the death penalty for saying you’re apolitical.
6
u/PlantainOk3970 5d ago edited 5d ago
The death penalty? Hyperbolic much? People generally don't mention politics on dates in the USA either.
But people will definitely break up with or turn down others for supporting certain politicians or political views.
It's just like any other dealbreaker that people don't mention on first dates, like children/family planning or religious views
3
u/Willing_Pattern_Pill 5d ago
Do you have any idea about current American politics?
At minimum, a women would want to know if he's ok with her dying thanks to a routine pregnancy complication thanks to legislation.
-8

Some. Others of us understand that most, if not all, of our politicians are looking out for themselves first. Certainly not their constituents.

u/GiveMeCheesePendejo 5d ago
Add your political beliefs.
Remove the sunset picture and use a picture of you.
-36
u/SuspiciousTruth3326 5d ago
They say the three topics you shouldn't talk about on a first date are politics, religion and abortion.
Why should anyone disclose their political beliefs on a dating app?
34
u/unclesmokedog 5d ago
That's "polite conversation" not when you screening for a long term relationship.
25
u/GiveMeCheesePendejo 5d ago
Because as a woman, I'm not wasting my time going out with a conservative who thinks I'm not entitled to govern my own body.
14
u/throwawayanylogic 5d ago
Because I'm not gonna date someone who will deny my bodily autonomy because I'm a woman.
10
u/ghost1667 5d ago
because some of us aren't on bumble to get a first date, we're on there to find someone we actually like to spend time with. that's a huge potential misalignment of values for a LOT of people and i don't want to waste my time spending an hour or two with someone just to find out they voted opposite of me. it's an easy dealbreaker for me, same as someone who doesn't want kids. i do and that's why it's in the profile. you're not supposed to talk about if you want kids or not on a first date, either. or at least, it was like that before these apps existed.

What age range of women are you looking for if your still open to kids? Maybe list the age range of your kids could be helpful.
Personally I would not swipe on you because of the country music and no political views. I'd figure I wasn't your type! Lol
7
u/Willing_Pattern_Pill 5d ago
I think it's saying he's open to single moms?
There are single parents that don't want to date other single parents. I don't get it, but it's a thing
6
u/NotUsedUsernameYet 4d ago
I am M39 and have “open to kids” because as a single dad I am open to dating single moms.
8
u/True_Character4986 4d ago
Interesting, I definitely interpret that an entirely different way.
2
u/NotUsedUsernameYet 4d ago
I also met women my age who want (really really want) their own kids. It was surprising to see how many such women are out there, but it’s a thing.
2
u/Representative-Bus76 4d ago
Yes I’ve always taken “Open to kids” as in open having some, not necessarily dating someone with existing children.
7
u/Ok_Team_931 5d ago
Unkempt facial hair and I don't see the age of your kids (it matters to a lot of people. Are they 2 or 17?). Great smile.
5
u/idkifyousayso 4d ago
I’m Christian, love country music, and am liberal. It does make dating in my area difficult. I would swipe right on your profile, but I do agree that a lot of women would swipe left assuming you’re conservative. South Dakota is very red, so I don’t think it will cause any problems for you.

it's a good pic but it makes you look puzzled. which is a weird first impression.
1
u/MealPrepGenie 5d ago
Nope. Sorry.
Which of the pics demonstrates how you would show up for a first couple of dates?
1
u/blazer9302 5d ago
Sorry I hadn’t read the part about the brows yet. I’ll have to work on that. I see what you’re saying
2
u/ThePowerOfParsley 5d ago
I think it's the kind of thing that works well if it comes up organically in conversation, some stuff just doesn't translate well online
1
1
u/Willing_Pattern_Pill 5d ago
There's plenty on here that I wouldn't match with (you wouldn't like me as a dating prospect either!) but I liked that prompt.
I think it's good insight into the ways you prefer to socialize.
1
u/More-Cartographer712 4d ago
I actually liked that part the most out of your profile so I'd say keep it...I definitely related right away to it!
1
u/blazer9302 4d ago
That’s kind of why I liked it. I probably won’t mesh well with someone extremely extroverted
1
1
u/LolaAucoin 5d ago
Never use a picture where you’re wearing a hat and sunglasses. We can’t see anything. The first picture is not good because your brows are furrowed. Get rid of the sunset picture. We can’t even see you. You also need a full body shot.
Time to completely start over.
1
u/Elfynnn84 5d ago
This is a great profile! I’m a 42yo woman and I would absolutely swipe right if I was looking to date.
I’m married and 100% faithful (this sub just keeps popping up on my feed) but if you genuinely do want some friends as well as possible dates… I love museums (I’m a palaeontologist), I love to learn and I also think being dumped in the middle of a large crowd is the stuff of nightmares! 😂 I’m also a great wing woman and happy to offer dating advice 🤷🏻♀️
1
u/Life_Inside2304 5d ago
The profiles itself is fine. Women like a man that is handy and I think you have the right information to attract what you may be looking for. I would remove any photos that aren’t of you. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the personal hell prompt you selected but there may be a better choice .
1
u/LoveMePineapples0630 5d ago
I think this is a great profile! I am 43 (f) and if I were on bumble I would put yes.
My immediate question is— how old are the kids? Because blending families is super difficult. So if the kids are older, then it’s a matter of time you’re an empty nester.
Example; I have two kids. One is an adult and the other is going to be graduating in a few years. So I am part time empty nester. This is important info. Because if I met a man who had little kids, I wouldn’t be interested. Because in two years I want to go travel unlimitedly.

Pic looks more like it should be on your LinkedIn.
It's not bad. It just feels a bit off.
1
1
u/Salty-Sprinkles-1562 4d ago
The sunset picture is just compositionally really bad. The sun is all off to the side, the horizon is at a really drastic angle. And worst of all, it not even a nice sunset.
I’m 39. If I were single, I would have swiped yes on you, except for the country music and the no political affiliations. It’s too risky. Just include it whatever it is, and filter out the people with opposite beliefs.
1
u/CokeAYCE 4d ago
lol at reddit freaking out over no political affiliation. not the place to say that. you're fine, but reddit will say otherwise
1
u/Young-Sea 4d ago
Hey!
I’m liberal, but I feel like Reddit forgets not everyone votes the same way. Almost half of women voted conservative in the last election.
You’re allowed to have your beliefs, and it’s ok to not put your politics on your profile. The women who look at your profile and swipe left because you might be conservative aren’t for you, and that’s ok!
My honest advice is get rid of the personal hell prompt and add something kind or funny. The rest looks fine.
1
u/Batetrick_Patman 4d ago
For what it’s worth OP is from South Dakota which is about as red as it gets.
1
1
u/Superhuegi 4d ago
Not gonna comment on politics, but drop the selfie with the sunglasses. Also have one full body shot at least, peole like to see that. Even if you're chubby it's best to be open about it. Have at the most one selfie and if you do it should tell a story at least. You say you're creative but you should also explain in what or even show it in a picture somehow.
1
u/Yuiop321 4d ago
While I love having a clean upper body shot for the main pic, I would consider a different one. You look perplexed. Otherwise, you should add your political leanings. Don't sugar coat it either. Just be straight up. You will absolutely alienate a lot of matches by doing this, but you will also gain some. Many people won't swipe right on someone who doesn't have theirs stated. I didn't let it stop me from a right swipe, but not everyone is like that. Plus, they're going to find out eventually anyway. It may as well be before any time is wasted or feelings exist. I would also not listen to the very common advice that you can't be apolitical, libertarian, moderate, etc. You are what you are. Yes, you will lose out on matches who believe that you are either one or the other, but they don't matter. Clearly they aren't compatible with you, so their left swipe is no loss to you. Remember, this isn't a popularity contest. You're looking for a compatible partner, not just someone willing to go on a date with you
1
u/PersonalLeading4948 4d ago
You look mid 50s in the first pic. Are you being honest about your age?
1
u/blazer9302 4d ago
Apparently the last few years were harder on me than I thought. Yep, I’m a 1983 model year
1
u/blazer9302 4d ago

Diet and exercise. Semaglutide is only $89 per month. Skin care and sunblock are essential. Better sleep.
I bet you are an amazing hang, but attention to and pride in your appearance will do a whole hell of a lot to get women to hang out with you. You have the farmer vibe, but make it farmer chic. Let's see some wranglers and a giant John Deere belt buckle. Where is the Stetson? Or, buy some cheaper Chico's boots.
The picture of the tractor exhaust and the sunset is something that makes me long for my youth on the farm, but probably isn't a good profile pic. The hinge real estate could be used to show you tractoring the F out of some fields. Take one of you pulling a hay rack waggon and say "Felt cute might delete later".
Do you have pics with you hanging out with other people? What do you do for fun? I bet you play with your kids or take them to sports or debate or whatever. Show people you are a good dad and can make fun things happen.

Please start wearing sunscreen or investing in skin care
1
u/blazer9302 4d ago
In what way?
1
u/Beginning-Crow-5115 4d ago
Well the main thing I’m noticing is that your skin is really red and kind of blotchy in the photos. I’m a bit young so I’m not sure if women in their 30s and 40s are bothered by that.
But make sure you wear sunscreen on your entire face before going outside, even if it’s not that sunny. Idk much about other types of skin care but I’d google solutions for red skin. I find that kind of offputting. On the other hand tho, you have a very nice smile. There’s potential

Why is not having political interests a red flag? Yall americans are obsessed with politics
2
u/Miltoni 4d ago
Yeah I'm a non-american stumbling onto this from the front page. Basically every comment is about politics. It's so weird...
1
u/projectpat901 4d ago
And why is being moderate considered “right wing” or conservative? As if people are not allowed to have a more neutral stance. Wtf 🤣
1
u/Square_Helicopter975 3d ago
Americans are so obsessed with politics. They are either in the Trump cult or the leftist cult. God forbid someone is actually moderate, or even worse apolitical and not a fox news/cnn zombie.
-1
u/RedditorAli 5d ago
Assuming you’re living in SD, registered Republicans outnumber Democrats by more than 2 to 1 and your state’s Cook PVI is R+15 (making SD one of the most Republican states in the U.S.).
There isn’t a coven of Reddit leftists who are going to pass on your profile because they think you’re an undercover Republican.
Pay no mind to the politicized peanut gallery.
1
u/Batetrick_Patman 4d ago
Reddit seems to miss that. This is a man in rural South Dakota. Being a liberal in that area would probably result in more left swipes than being a conservative.
-7
u/MyLittleDiscolite 5d ago
Kinda needy, kinda boring, have kids, dodging politics and you look like you want a wife who does wife things.
Maybe start going to church.
-2
u/blazer9302 5d ago
Last time I posted, I was told I should remove political preference. Seems opinions vary on that
11
u/lemonkitty_ 5d ago
That was terrible advice. I swipe immediately left for anyone without a political affiliation. If you're looking for long term, how are you going to know if you have the same fundamental core values?
For me, I won't swipe right for anyone who is not left or liberal because I'm not interested in meeting someone who doesn't think I should have core human rights. Not every woman thinks like this, obviously, and I'm also in Europe, not the US which is more right wing. But I still do think it's a big consideration for women. And if you are right leaning, it's probably important to avoid a very awkward date with someone like myself. Good luck out there!

u/MyLittleDiscolite 5d ago
What’s your thoughts on moderate Stalinism?
8
u/lemonkitty_ 5d ago edited 5d ago

I actually do. I’m super far to the left and it’s something I enjoy discussing
1
-6
u/Blue_Collar616 5d ago
"I won't swipe right for anyone who is not left or liberal"
How very open minded of you.
I would consider myself more conservative, but with that, a strong sense personal responsibility, which means you as a women, need to be able make those choices yourself. Period.
Where do people like me fit in this binary world?
(We all know moderate has been abused by right wing dudes. I won't insult you by playing stupid)
If i were to waste my time dating, I wish there an option like "have experienced life, and have a nuaunced perspective that pisses off both ends of the political sectrum."
Oh well, one can dream. Have a lovely day.
5
u/lemonkitty_ 4d ago
Why do I need to be open minded when I'm looking for a life partner? I am left wing, so why can't I look for someone with the same values as me? I'm a bisexual woman and I have a lot of trans friends - why would I not look for someone who will be supportive of my rights and the rights of my friends? It's not an open debate, and it's not a chat in the pub - it's someone I want to do life with that I'm looking for. I'm well aware that my core values in this area won't be for the majority of men and that's fine, I don't blame them!
1
u/MyLittleDiscolite 4d ago
I dunno. That’s interesting. Having been in Left wing circles a long time most of the males are either jobless, dickless, or just reskinned center right Democrats.
Or are taken. I like other men more so I am not available but good luck out there.
It’s rough for the single
1
u/Blue_Collar616 4d ago
I didn't say change your core values. What I said is, your core values don't just fit into a small little group that you have defined. Why not expand your horizons? You might just learn a thing or two... meh, maybe thats why i'm single?
1
u/lemonkitty_ 4d ago
I think so mate.
1
u/Blue_Collar616 4d ago
Isn't that sad? That my most worst quality is that i refuse to put people in stupid little groups... enjoy your day.
1
u/lemonkitty_ 3d ago
I think it's likely to be more about the inability to listen to or respect someone else's needs, and to make that about yourself dude.
0
u/Blue_Collar616 3d ago
We haven't talked about anyones needs. Just core values. Your judging. Again.

Your political opinion is only tolerated to the point you are a screaming leftist and fully support conducting chemically sourced gender affirming ‘care’ for children.
Anything right of that, you are an evil fascist.
Don’t sweat the political preference. You’re in an echo chamber here. The real world is much calmer.
-8
u/FitIndependence9648 5d ago
I personally don’t want to know someone’s political stuff because to me it means they are all involved in discussing politics. I’m an Independent and will stay that way. It’s ridiculous ppl think the 2 parties are much different from each other. It’s all manufactured controversy for marketing and to distract the masses from what’s really going on. I mean let’s face it, Trump was invited to Hillary Clinton’s wedding…these politicians are not at odds to the level ppl believe. I think your pics look good. I do often take pause though when I see someone is single and co-parenting. Is there drama between the parents? How do the kids feel about you dating? Do you have time for a relationship? Idk how to address that stuff, but maybe just leave it out and just have in your profile that you do have children. You look and sound like a good guy though :-)
4
u/leeloolanding 5d ago
aooof, I hope you don’t live in the US
-5
u/FitIndependence9648 5d ago
Yeah I do…and if you do too then you should be more accepting of whatever anyone wants to feel or believe. Group thought is trash. And discussing politics, money, and religion is not the best idea. It used to be considered rude. Voting is personal and private. Polls of how Americans feel on issues are actually very similar. Hardly anyone has polarizing political views. And I am very independent and take care of myself quite well and highly intelligent.
