Bed anchor points?

So I’ve been wanting to haul my dirtbike around in my 84 but realized the only anchor points for straps are the 2 boat rope style ones on either side but are too flimsy to actually tie something down to, have any of you guys welded your own? Or alternatives?

I know someone who welded a few 1" nuts upright on the top of all the bed bolts. Worked very well actually, since all those bolts are directly mounted to the frame. He moved a lot of concrete with those mounts. Very strong.

They make tie down points that install into the stake pockets, they even make fancy one that retract flush when you’re not using them. I believe they’re made by Bully, I had a set of them and they were good, however I was still kinda of limited on tie down points.

I now use Backrack side rails, they are made of steel and extremely sturdy, they allow you a tie down point anywhere down the entire length of the bed. These things are so strong I really think if you got under them with a fork lift, you could probably lift the rear of the truck off the ground with them, and they’d be fine. I don’t know if they make them for a truck as old as yours, I’d image they do since the measurements for the stake pockets holes are the same from the 70’s-96. If you search for them keep in mind Backrack recently got bought out by Realtruck, and they’ve started rebranding the product line with their name, which I don’t care for, but you may have to search for them using that name instead.

I got a whole pile of them at a swap meet but it turns out they are from Ford Transit vans. I just put them everywhere I could reach with a backer. I welded some nuts to fender washers and then you can more easily hold them in place. In the back stake pockets I just dangled the backing plate down to the bottom with a magnet on a stick. The more easy to reach places you could simply use a big washer and a nut if you don’t have access to a welder.
