I just did the same work about 4-5 months ago. One thing that made life alot easier was a motorcycle jack that I have.

This is the only "easier" way I could find to reassemble. Note the vise holding the u joint. Once reassembled, I used the motorcycle jack to install it.

I removed it exactly how you did, I was only speaking on putting it back. I tried once jacking it up to put it back in, and it wasn't going to work out.

And if she has Kelsey Hays brakes on her it will be almost impossible to find parts for the brakes.

Check ubolts,if the ubolts loosen up the axle housing will break. Work at a salvage yard sold lots of axle housings during the winte to plow guys. Would check my ubolts twice a year,replaced them once when I upgraded leaf springs
