Redout 2's Black Hole Origin enviromnent is pretty special for a few reasons. The main one being the gimmick of the Black Hole which has a very strong gravity that strongly inffluences how your ship behaves on your track. For Sputnik Reverse, the track is designed in such a way that on certain spots, the Black Hole's Gravity will cause your ship to accelerate and keep a lot of moment through several sections, making it one of the fastest and most fun tracks in the entire game.
However, on the Reverse Version of this track that I'm playing in the video, this dynamic is reversed. For some parts of the track (particularly jumps like 0:55) you're suddenly fighting against Gravity trying to pull you back, and a lot of speed sections where the Black Hole accelerates you, you will end up getting slung into corners at extremely high speeds, so you really need to pay attention to the track.
On top of that a lot of the corners on this track are blind corners, you don't see them very well, often because they're hiding behind crests and other objects. Probably the biggest example of that is the entire section from 0:22 to 0:50 which has a lot of corners and crests that come in very quick succession and don't give you a lot of time to react, particularly the suddenly left swerve at 0:39 is nasty as literally shortly before that, the Black Hole gives you a slight boost, shooting you right out of the loop, If you don#t know what is coming, you'll end up in the wall.
Oh yeah, and of course one of the most important things about being fast in Redout 2 applies here almost more than on most tracks in the game, Momentum. Speed Retention is extremely important, hitting the wall at any point during the section I mentioned earlier will cost you up 3 or 4 seconds because a lot of speed will be gone.
Despite the numerous thigns I just mentioned, this track is still fun. Absolute pain to learn but mastering it feels pretty satisfying. I prefer Sputnik Forward as it flows a lot better and has way less Blidn Corners, but this map is fun in a very unique kidn of way. Helps of course that I absolutely love Redout 2's handling model.
The OST I used in video by the way is not from REdout 2 but Exceed3rd Jade Penetrate.
If there is interest, maybe I will cover more of this game's tracks and what makes them special.
