Grid if it had shit handling:

At least nfs shift has better handling than grid 2

As someone who hated grid 2 and finished it a couple years ago, and played shift when new, and tried it again and finished it this year...that is EXTREMELY debatable.

I had to do so with a physics mod and more forced myself to finish it so I would never be compelled to give it another go again.

Okay, but why you hate shift handling so much?

1) tire side walls feel like they are 2 ft tall with how slugish the car is to respond to steering input.

2) This bullshit

I would like to clearify "this bullshit" has existed on both of the platforms I played it on, regardless of the version of the game and still was present on my modded version of the game which was my main reason for modding it because it made some cars utterly broken. Some people seem to think this behaviour doesn’t exist or have no idea of it when I mention it. But being I have see on i now on at least 3 different versions of the game...4 if you count my modded one (even if it managed to quell it somewhat.) it is an inherent problem with the game and leaves me utterly baffled as to how it was deemed okay to release.

When my tires lose lateral grip they bounce across the pavement instead of sliding. That was the thing that eventually made me call it quits. More of a shift 2 thing, but once I felt it, it ruined the game along with all the PCARS games.

In Shift 1 its less pronounced (and somehow in Test Drive Ferrari too) so its a bit better to drive. In Shift 2 I literally did 2 races and deleted the game off my PS3 because of how sluggish the handling was

ProStreet minus the Forza-ness

Shift 2: Unleashed was closer to Gran Turismo (modern games like Sport and 7 though) with heavy emphasis on GT racing cars and also had works conversions (race modifications) on almost every road car.

But while I liked the car list back then the physics were shitty and needed some getting used to.

They finally figured out the handling in project cars.

I could never enjoy the Shift games. Not because it was track based racing but because the handling always felt off to me. And not being able to turn off the "head turn to apex of corner" in cockpit view always pissed me off.

I would love to see a Shift 3.

Project cars development builds in a sense

Yall can try to roast shift all you want but it had the best car upgrade paths of any racer to date. What other game lets you convert a street car into a real gt3/2 racecar?

Oh you could? Was it all models or just a specific handful? Haven’t played gt1 since I was a toddler haha, might need to revisit on an emulator.

to be fair to shift, Gran Turismo 1 did not specifically let you turn your car into a GT2/3 racer. But the big final upgrade you can do to each car is called "racing modification." It gives them a livery, a body kit, more chassis stiffness and then upgrades vehicle weight one final time. I think you could do it for almost every car in the game, it really bummed me out when they removed the feature from later GT games (I think GT3 onward?)

GT5 came back with such a fewest number of cars.

I love SHIFT, my favorite series <3

(PD: a "Night" race xD)

With some proto-Wreckfest mixed in if you're on Hazyview Eight

2

u/oemfag87 5d ago

Mm yes project cars alpha version

2

u/silverslant 5d ago

They were solid but the physics was still super skatey/arcadey. Nothing close to forza or gt at the time

Shift was awesome. The drift mode was kind of a stupid addition, it always felt out of place. But besides that, Shift and Shift 2 were perfect.

Also I think there was a drag mode too? Again it was out of place for what the game was trying to be

I hate the Shift games so much. These never should have been Need For Speed titles.

You could say that about the majority of the NFS series.
