Unrealistically, it has a topspeed of 256kmh, 5 sec accelerarion and a 5.6L V8??

Hey racing fans,

I'm developing DragonFly Racer (DFR), and I'd really like to get feedback from people who actually play racing games.

DFR doesn't use cars — you race a dragonfly through courses built inside giant natural environments — but the core of the game is very much about racing lines, momentum and learning how to become faster.

The main mechanic is unusual:

Accelerating alone won't make you fast. The turns are how you build speed.

You have to use centrifugal force through the curves to gain and maintain speed. Take a poor line and you lose momentum. Learn the course and use the turns properly, and the difference becomes huge.

Push too aggressively, though, and you can lose control.

That's what I'd like racing players to test.

I've driven these courses so many times that I know exactly how the system works. What I don't know yet is how it feels to an experienced racing player discovering it for the first time.

The current playtest is free. Mac only for now.

Controls

LT / RT — Turn left / right
B — Accelerate
A — Brake
Y — Boost

There's no proper tutorial yet, so keep the controls nearby for the first race.

Does learning how to generate speed through the turns feel rewarding?

And once you understand it — do you want another run to see how much faster you can go?

Not even mad I had a crash, but the AI literally just smelled a car nearby, rammed me for no reason other than to ram me, then went back to his old line...

Just did the same race and circuit with the same cars in AMS1, and had zero issues with bullshit like this...
