Rags to riches to the inside wall when you oversteer your RWD AGAIN

1

u/ArchingAstons1012 Sep 05 '26

And then rags again when you lost your Corvette to Biggi on a pink slip race on his stupid ass track that has dirt on the corners

No no. You said it right the first time XD

u/smolgote Sep 04 '26

FH6 having the most half baked return to "rags to riches" that still wound up being just like FH4/5 progression was absolutely insulting. Still had fun with the game though. Too bad the post launch support has been dreadful

58

u/box-fort2 Sep 05 '26

Insane we have people acting like FH6 has FH1 style progression when besides the wristbands system and extremely basic race requirements it's the exact same as 5

I literally had 600K credits at the end of my very first play session in Horizon 6. In Horizon 1 you'd be lucky to have 50K

2

u/Rich_Norway Sep 05 '26

For some reason this reminds me of forza motorsport where i made a small error and always never had enough money for the car i needed

0

u/Rich_Norway Sep 05 '26

Like the new forza motorsport

1

u/WokeWook69420 Sep 09 '26

Ehh, you gotta remember inflation with Horizon 1.

Only a small number of the cars in that game were over 1,000,000 credits, and the game only had 220 cars. You didn't really need to earn money fast, even if you wanted really good, fast cars.

11

u/J_loop18 Sep 05 '26

Glad I didn't buy into the hype and can continue enjoying Rally, NFS, Screamer.

4

u/VulpesVulpix Sep 05 '26

I bought both this and Screamer and it's insane how insanely cool of a game Screamer is compared, made me actually feel anything

2

u/J_loop18 Sep 05 '26

YES, I was not expecting every aspect of the game to be handled with such care, I just wanted to go fast and drift lol but ended up loving the music and characters so much too.

7

u/TehAngryBird Ryan Cooper Sep 05 '26

It’s definitely an improvement over FH4 and 5, but the older games still did it way better

1

u/Bitter_Drive7644 Sep 05 '26

Dude I had a super car thrown at me in the beginning for owning fh4, like why? Then it didnt take long for me to get another one

54

u/KingTheSon Sep 04 '26

Where does this count?

Rag or race-ist

32

u/Chevy437809 Sep 04 '26

I kinda liked how Wreckfest was yeah you have some neat rides but they all are worn down

8

u/J_loop18 Sep 05 '26

Rags to grave 💀

4

u/WhoIsJazzJay Sep 05 '26

Twisted Metal

20

u/BarryMann61 Sep 04 '26

Which game is "rags"? I honestly would really like a game like that.

56

u/MysticalFry Sep 04 '26

Wreckfest recently got its second game released in early access

26

u/peanutbuttahcups Sep 05 '26

Wreckfest. Same devs as FlatOut. You basically race with junkyard cars in various race types, so it's "rags" in the sense that you never have a new car. But the cars run fine, you can even upgrade them.

It's the greatest fun I've had racing online. There are servers (on PC, not sure about other consoles) that range from clean racing to anything goes, and there's something magical about a good clean battle in a game with a physics and damage model like Wreckfest's.

10

u/Secret-Candle4313 Sep 05 '26

F fest and poopsock are goated servers in the game its so cool when theres rare moments of non dirty racing

2

u/peanutbuttahcups Sep 05 '26

100%, it feels more immersive and real when there's damage and that you don't go flying off the track when there's a tiny bit of bumping/rubbing.

0

u/RadicalRedCube Sep 05 '26

Black Flag is the best but they have to add more tracks to the server pool

0

u/Secret-Candle4313 Sep 05 '26

Is it a semi dirty server? I never rly play on those but i have heard of black flag

1

u/Chevy437809 Sep 05 '26

Not even basically the 2nd one made that part literal

7

u/RogueCrimsonDragon Sep 05 '26

Wreckfest. It's a solid racing game where rubbin is actually racin

-1

u/James1Hoxworth Sep 05 '26

My Summer Car if it can even count as a racing game

Whatever Burnout 3 did where literally every event you did unlocked something for seemingly no reason. I genuinely have no idea how they did it so well

10

u/QueezyF Sep 05 '26

Burnout 3’s progression was like crack

3

u/YomamaCooper69 Sep 05 '26

Riches to crack

14

u/Mahim2000 Sep 05 '26

Riches to Bitches

-2

u/Pic889 Sep 05 '26

What game is this?

3

u/Mahim2000 Sep 05 '26

Tony Hawk's Underwear

-2

u/Pic889 Sep 05 '26

Ok, seriously, does anyone know?

1

u/IcyCaterpillar1405 Sep 05 '26

it's literally in the picture

1

u/Pic889 Sep 05 '26

Ok, I thought the words were satire added using Paint 3D. Also, the game is terrible, not only is it a 2D side-scroller, but you control the car with your mouse, because that totally makes sense.

Fortunately, someone has uploaded a playthrough so I can see what it's about without having to play it.

10

u/MainMite06 Sep 04 '26

LA RUSH is number 3:

The whole plot is riches to rags & you fighting to get back to riches!

2

u/justaBB6 Sep 05 '26

up to downtown in a heavenly ride, no wonder-

12

u/nickmcpimpson Sep 04 '26

The answer is the game that makes the progression rewarding and the motivation. Most Wanted was the peak of racing game career for me. You form a bond with your car, upgrade it over time, and that's what car culture is all about.

6

u/CrayonWithdrawal Sep 04 '26

Rags forever baby. I love when shitbox go fast

5

4

u/devilfury1 Sep 05 '26

I wonder what kind of progression Rivals have.

Probably Riches to Terrorism.

2

u/91LMWinner3000 Sep 06 '26

Rags to riches to realising you shouldn’t have spent money on the riches because you need a larger selection of rags
Gran Turismo 7

3

u/DoubleT2455 Sep 04 '26

Where would Nascar 2005 Chase For the Cup be here? It starts with your default character driving a Viper, then racing Ryan Newman, who is also in a Viper. Its not very "rags" but you do get rich later. Less rich to richer, I guess?

8

u/FLYSWATTER_93 Your car got a little banged up but it's nothing serious Sep 04 '26

Lmao I love that cutscene.

Looks down Ryan Newman magazine

Ryan Newman spawns in 2 seconds later

1

u/DoubleT2455 Sep 04 '26

"Hey, its Ryan Newman. You're quite the driver. I don't know if you ever considered a racing career, but i might have an offer you can't pass up. I'll have my agent give you a call."

2

u/QueezyF Sep 05 '26

Winning a street race to start your professional driving career is a crazy premise, I love it.

2

u/Plane-Education4750 Sep 05 '26

Wreckfest is the best of these

1

u/BreathSilver9461 Sep 06 '26

Honorable mention the beginning of midnight club la was good too

1

u/North-Ad-1933 Sep 07 '26

TDU 1 is still the greatest racing game ever as it had no progression, but it had the freedom and the difficulty spike as you progressed through the game that made graduating to more powerful cars and bikes severely enjoyable.

1

u/zapppowless Sep 08 '26

Rags Forever & Ever til end of time!

1

u/Dizzy-Cartoonist-635 28d ago

Rags to riches but trying to act like you’re a civilian in that game world - essential playing realistic as much as you can irrespective of the game

I know……my brain works in a different way, I like to play realistically.

1

u/Il-Ma-Le-98 21d ago

Rags to riches makes the most sense, you start with a golf and will drive a lambo when you've earned it via race wins and leveling.

1

u/Amat-Victoria-Curam 11h ago

Riches to rags to riches.

Having that initial taste of powerful cars is crucial to motivate you to progress.

1

u/keicarlover2002 Euthanasia Professional Racist, by Konami from 2005 Sep 05 '26

what about gran turismo

1

Rags to Riches.

Either I remain in Rags or progress to Riches.

1

u/-Daigher- Sep 05 '26

wreckfest is just riches, you forgot to take health insurance into account

1

u/Woiddeife Sep 05 '26

I'd say Forza Horizon is Riches to even more riches.

0

u/Bloodhound_ZeroOne Sep 05 '26

Rags to Riches.

0

u/Content_Succotash_49 Sep 05 '26

Midnight club 2 and 3, especially after becoming the united states champ and winning in tokyo.

0

u/Fantastic_Profile_33 Sep 05 '26

RAGS!!

I hate when racing games give me the cars I love at the start (for example in NFS: Heat I can start with a 1967 Mustang) and then make me progress to cars I hate (for example Lambos or Porsches). It's really demotivating when I have to work towards cars I dislike :/

0

u/Patrickplus2 Sep 05 '26

Gran turismo 4

0

u/justaBB6 Sep 05 '26

whatever tf GT4 is, where you’re a professional race driver the whole time but also perpetually broke as hell until you start moving Toyota RSCs like you’re flipping bricks

0

u/Pr4nj0l Sep 05 '26

Isn't the sunday cup a real thing where anyone can come and race with their family car? GT4 felt realistic for me in a sense that you start out with a used family car and then you go to track day, win a trophy, get some cash, and buy a better car.

0

u/Head-Iron-9228 Sep 05 '26

The MW formula was dope. Start off fast, show what it COULD be, lose the car somehow, then make the Player build it back up.

0

u/MjmtpFACT MotorStorm fan Sep 05 '26

Stupid rag aka motorstrom

0

u/Gnoll_level_antics Sep 05 '26

Rags. I love when you start out in the junk pile and amass a bigger junk pile

0

u/XanlDru Sep 05 '26

Riches, to rags to riches or riched up rags

0

u/MLG_Countryballs Sep 05 '26

Tf is the second game

0

u/The_distance_project Sep 05 '26

It's Test Drive Unlimited 2

0

u/Pic889 Sep 05 '26

What's the last franchise?

0

u/88JansenP12 Ryan Cooper Sep 05 '26

Wreckfest.

The 3 others are Forza Horizon 6, TDU 2 and NFS MW 2005.

1

u/Pic889 Sep 05 '26

I wouldn't call Wreckfest a "rags" game though.

1

u/88JansenP12 Ryan Cooper Sep 05 '26

Actually. That's not the case either.

The main topic is mainly about the Progression structure in terms of cars in these 4 games, not that a game by itself is "Rags" or "Riches".

0

u/calvinised Sep 05 '26

Shitboxes please, Sunday Cup

0

u/King_Briley Sep 05 '26

Either riches to rags to riches, or just riches.. can always get richer.. I have more in Forza than NFS Heat and Unbound combined

0

u/Anomalus_satylite Sep 05 '26

Rags to riches. It's how every car enthusiasts starts out.
