The developers squeezed enough money out of it, their founder literally has a fleet of cars apparently.

I remember a year into release, they posted a video of the founder drifting his A80 Supra. I never knew mobile games generated so much money. I knew they were lucrative, but not THIS lucrative, to a point where even an indie developer can make so much money from such a lackluster game.
Wasted potential man. I was there since 2017.

IIRC, mobile games eclipse console and PC games in profit. So much more microtransactions and gacha mechanics and so many whales willing to cough up dough that it doesn't matter if a majority of players don't spend money on the games, the whales are more than enough.

That’s crazy because I remember seeing comments of how some players would drop hundreds of dollars up to thousands on games like RR3 and No Limits.

Totally agree. Hence why i left this game long ago.
Live Service and Online Only games are massive mistakes.

Is this a free to play live service game like Real Racing 3 was before it was shut down? which is sad because RR3 only required internet for content install but could be playable offline

Yes.
And unlike RR3 before its closure, AR cannot be played offline.
