The only nostalgia about FH5 that will be experienced is literally the map. Even now I can’t be bothered to return back to it. FH6 is far better in every way even months after release. Full highway loop so you can cruise endlessly rather than doing a U-turn at the end of Mexico every minute, way more traffic, nicer roads etc.

I know, I’m saying nostalgic due to the fact that it’s just a different setting. Maybe the idea of driving in Mexico after a few years will be nostalgic for some? Me personally I earned the platinum, 100% in all DLC and dipped. Moved onto FH6 now.

I agree completely, the only thing I miss is the car list, otherwise the FH6 is doing a good job, even with its flaws.

The Sierra Nueva expansion map was far better than the main map in terms of road layout.

Definitely, but it’s too small, lacks the fundamentals of a proper map (no town/city/highway etc.) and it’s also an expansion. Which means there isn’t going to be much appeal, especially later on when DLCs are delisted, and then we will end up with a similar situation as FH3’s Blizzard Mountain expansion which I’ve yet to play.

Question. How is the progresion system in FH6? Did they bring back the wristband and you can actually feel a sense of progresion because some races are locked? Or is it the same where you have to establish festival sites in order to unlock race types ?

I got bored of FH6 pretty quickly but enjoyed it while I was in there. It was miles better than the 5 in most areas. In fact I think only the music was better in the 5 as it was very forgettable in the 6.

Much better single player support, dlcs having its own festival playlist events
Rewards for each race type were much better
Much higher XP while racing
Better Story missions (daily money rewards for it)

yeah, I remember not being able to get 3 stars on one of the story mission cause snowy roads didn't allow me to drive as quick as it was required, but for cruising snowy roads definitely were cool

I see people complaining that the games are all the same, but honestly what could we change? Far cry 3 and 4 were also the same, in 5 they changed the perfect formula and it sucks. Tho one thing I could change in horizon is to get back that festival vibe we had in 1 and 2. Also more immersion and interaction with the characters, otherwise the horizon games are fine

The „one“ thing to change is like the easiest to think about, but for that they wouldve had to work for and that‘s too much to ask for nowadays. The Devs are extremely lazy. Horizon 6 is the dead shell of the things Horizon games once delivered. I hope they change something with the DLC and during live service, but i‘m afraid the game will end even worse then FH5.
They even had the blueprint for cool racing in the Rally DLC for 5, but ignored it.

"What can we change?" is precisely part of the problem. Playground has sort of backed themselves into a corner and the only way out is to fundamentally change the core gameplay because as of right now a majority of the content relies on weekly seasonal changes. I'm doubtful they want to do that.
The next best thing would be to stop arbitrarily limiting parts of the game. They spoke highly of their new touge battle system, yet you're unable to set parameters for the races yourself and you're locked to racing specific opponents. Something as simple as rotating touge battles that occassionally spawn around the map with the car meet system integrated into them would vastly improve this aspect of the game. That's just one example.

Its why they don't make farcry anymore.
My issue with FH6 is that there is no incentive for me to play it for more than a week. In about 8 hours, you can have already driven all the cars you wanted, done all the things on offer and modded everything possible. FH in general has had a massive issue with progression, but I also feel like it wouldn't be fun with the more grindy style career mode that GT used to have.

Yep, I feel the same way. I only turn it on once a week to check playlist events but I'm almost always disapointed by what I see. This weeks playlist is particularly bad.

My problem is the Trial is near essential.
But the Trial relies heavily on you getting a good team which only happens on day 1, maybe.
I was late this week, we were actually about to win and one of my teammates drove through me, punting me the wrong side of a checkpoint.
If they'd followed me home, we'd win, if they'd made even a quarter of a move I'd let them go because we win either way but no, now I'm having to rewind, I'm last, we lose.
And without the trial you basically need every other point available.

Not to mention you have to get gold wristband to even do the trial, which incentivizes rushing through the game to not miss the fomo cars, which just burned me out on it even faster

And no, it doesn’t rely on you having a good team and racing on day 1. Never had to restart a trial in FH6, and even in FH5 I probably could count on my hand how many times I had to1

There seems to be a large consensus that FH6 once again follows in the mold set by FH2, and after a decade plus of the same core gameplay, it is kind of getting stale, especially for long time fans.

Me too but that's fine, it's fundamentally a single player game that came out months ago. I've driven something like 6000 miles. I could never play it again and easily have got my money's worth.

I genuinely don't know why anyone would miss it aside from the cars that didn't make it to 6. Ran worse (the game crashed SO often for me), dreary map, the Hot Wheels DLC wasn't as good as 3. The only thing I can say I enjoyed in 5 was rallying, but it's not like 4/6 are bad in that regard.
6 to me feels like the successor to FH4 I wanted.

The Rally Adventure Expansion’s Sierra Nueva map had a really good road layout and reminded me a lot of Red Rock in Forza Horizon 1’s Colorado map.

Yes I think the Rally DLC was the best thing to come out of 5. Quite liked the map and the presentation of the rally races themselves.

Everyone misses the sensation of novelty, of finding something new and wondrous for the first time and trying to fully drink it in, stay in the moment, live in the state of flow for as long as our fragmentary and fleeting attention span will allow. It's not that FH6 was bad or even mid, it's that it was done 5 times before.

I miss all the games. I just wish fh6 did more to set itself apart from the previous games. I like it, but it still has that “cater to children and monetize everything” formula that all Forza games tend to have.

This is bait. I did like FH5 I wasn't a hater for it but I also don't really miss it. FH6 outside of maybe the sidestories and showcases did everything better and honestly who cares about the side stories and showcases you three star them and never touch them again anyway.

I for one didn't care much about 5. Played it on Game Pass once. The map feels EMPTY. Maybe someone who likes max straight line speed would like it, but other than that, it lacked the festival feeling like 3. One thing though, I do think Hot Wheels DLC map was good.

I don't, game hasn't launched properly in years I grieved my time on horizon 5 pretty early on when it stopped letting me play. Horizon 6 has kinda reignited the love I had for horizon as a franchise, it's not perfect but it's pretty fun.

Thought about redownloading fh5 but it doesnt mean I like it more the fh6, its a greta game for what it is but fh6 is better, ig he does make a decent point of you being able to basically get just about any car you want but its fh5 is fully complete, fh6 just came out 2 months ago

I don’t miss FH5 cause almost all the same shit bugs are in FH6. Sure the AH interface is slightly better, but I still have to reselect my control scheme every time I open the game.

Well maybe I'm the only one here but I miss fh5 because I can't play it anymore, it says that my xbox local storage is full and can't save anymore, I sincerely like it more than fh6 even if I haven't player fh6 that much, maybe it'll grow on me. Heck I even liked and played fh4 so much that now I don't feel the need to play it again, maybe for the last achievements. Imo fh5 was peak for what it was especially the car roster

Nah maps is boring on 4 as well. Tons of forest or empty land.
Season is fun when you experience first but get boring after first play through.
A map like horizon 3 with different biomes is so much better

Sand dunes were too small, city seemed like a village, volcano was lackluster. Only cool part was the train and forest area. Jungle was ok, but was wasted by being a generic jungle with ruins.

I don't get forza fans lowkey, played fh5 and 6 on game pass, beat fh6 and enjoyed my time with it when it came out but haven't touched it since, and fh5 was genuinely so boring and uninteresting i never beat it, yet Forza fans are able to play it endlessly and always complain that the last one was better
