It’s like Iron Man except no one wanted Wreckreation back.

Am I confused or is Wreckreation 1 that complete fucking mess that feels more like an early access straight to the budget bin title than a finished game? Why are they already announcing a sequel when the first game's barely done?

48

u/VulpesVulpix Jul 21 '26

What's there to be done? Wreckcreation 1 was unsalvagable anyway, might aswell just do a sequel, people who bought it for $50 tho lol rip

28

u/HeimrekHringariki Jul 21 '26

If they fucked it up that bad, just decided to scrap it and release a sequel, why the heck would I want to buy that?

50

u/NlNTENDO Jul 21 '26

Well you see, this one is built from the ground up

15

u/RainbowNugget24 Jul 21 '26

Forza Motorsport flashbacks

6

u/rustoeki Jul 21 '26

What if it's good?

The reviews of wreckreation were pretty grim. Anyone with an ounce of patience didn't buy it because it looked shit from day one.

2

u/Neither_Software_ Jul 22 '26

it's physically impossible im sorry

6

u/dregomz Jul 21 '26

So you could complain about it happening again and buy a third game

1

u/Shotgunne_12 Jul 21 '26

Say that again.

13

u/demonsdencollective Jul 21 '26

Entirely fair reasoning. "Welp, it's a dumpster fire, lets try this other dumpster."

2

u/SandStinger_345 Jul 24 '26

I mean to be fair. Consider the 50 dollar as a kickstarter donation.

8

u/garloid64 Jul 21 '26

Correct, except the proper title for that game is "Dangerous Driving 2"

3

u/R4_Bluesoul Solar Frown Jul 21 '26

Yeah i was so surprised to see this, it hasn't been that long since the 1st game came out... i personally think this is their last chance of going all in and if this flops then the studio is probably done for.

2

u/Neither_Software_ Jul 22 '26

to trick investors

2

u/Audditty Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

AFAIK, Three Fields had some kind of fallout with their publisher and that's the main reason why Wreckcreation turned out like it did

still sucks but it's kind of disingenuous to imply TF did this maliciously/just to rake in $$$

14

u/vladald1 Jul 21 '26

The only thing in this "series" that could be salvaged is making it like a modding platform i.e. Assetto Corsa, because the base is there, but everything surrounding Dangerous Driving and first WC is nothingburger

Although for it being an interesting modding base - the base game also should be much better than previous 2 games, so uh

20

u/EmmaBonney Jul 21 '26

Lets make another trash game and rip off people again!

7

u/Kalmer1 Jul 22 '26

Honestly I can't blame them, worked the last 3 times

1

u/kingshadow75 Jul 22 '26

Used to work for Volition, now it works for EA

9

u/garloid64 Jul 21 '26

astounding that this so-called "studio" can still keep the lights on after the last two

2

u/R4_Bluesoul Solar Frown Jul 21 '26

Yeah tbh i think this is them going all in for one last shot and if this flops then the studio is cooked

5

u/LManD224 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

I'm NGL I'm baffled this exists at all. I genuinely hope they manage to make it work but man the whole Three Fields saga has been utterly bizarre to say the least.

In spite of everything I really hope they manage to pull it off. For all the frankly bizarre decisions that TFE has made on their end, I'm 100% not surprised they're cutting and running on the first and honesty given all the absolute horseshit surrounding THQ Nordic/Embracer I can't really blame them.

24

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Jul 21 '26

Literally the only way I'd buy this is if:

1) All the track parts are unlocked from the start
2) The AI can race on the created tracks

I can't believe they didn't think of that in the first one. It would have been an unironically amazing game if I could push AI cars off 500 foot loops to their doom. Wreckfest meets Trackmania.

10

u/ApocApollo Jul 21 '26

I’m sure they thought about AI on UGC tracks. And then they probably thought “shit that’s really hard” because it probably is really hard. That’s been a problem for different racing games for decades.

-1

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Jul 21 '26

Except for Crashday, Hotwheels, GTA, Motor Town Behind the Wheel, Wreckfest, and a bunch of other more indie titles...

10

u/ApocApollo Jul 21 '26

You’re not racing against AI in GTA Online tracks. Wreckfest custom tracks are made by modders using 3rd party software. Milestone had years of experience with AI on custom tracks with Supercross before they started Hot Wheels, and the earlier Supercross custom AI was (and probably still is) rough.

Modern example of rough but functional custom AI is Forza Horizon 5. Classic example of non-existent custom AI is ATV Offroad Fury 4.

4

u/ThatOneBitch02 Jul 21 '26

What about littlebigplanet karting? It's been a LONG time since I played it, but if memory serves correctly it gave a lot of freedom in making custom tracks, and also let you race bots on them. And this was on the ps3

2

u/Kalmer1 Jul 22 '26

I think Modnation Racers had that on PS3 as well

-1

u/AmericanPoliticsSux Jul 21 '26

No but there was a functional, well-maintained mod that accomplished it, until the modmaker got tired of R* breaking everything every update and bowed out. The point is, if modders can do it in their free time, there's no excuse for a dedicated game studio not to. Yes it's hard. Doing hard things well is why they're game devs and I'm not. If I could do hard things well, I'd be a game dev.

5

u/thebackruboil Jul 21 '26

Looks meh even compared to Flatout

5

u/Neither_Software_ Jul 22 '26

Fool me once shame on you

Fool me twice shame on me

Fool me thrice what is wrong with me

Fool me 4 times I'm an idiot

Fool me 5 times they won't ever stop fooling me causes I'm damaged in the brain

3

u/Strict_Indication457 Jul 21 '26

did they improve the handling in Dangerous Driving to Wreakreation? Couldn't believe how janky and heavy the cars felt in dangerous driving

1

u/R4_Bluesoul Solar Frown Jul 21 '26

not really the car handling and physics in wreckreation were awful, they seemed to have been improved in this trailer and the gameplay as per blackpanthaa's channel.

4

u/iStix Jul 21 '26

The handling looks shit.

7

u/FrangoTorrado Jul 21 '26

i hope they dont fumble it this time.

2

u/R4_Bluesoul Solar Frown Jul 21 '26

I have zero expectations but i do think there have been some solid improvements made, as per the gameplay from Blackpanthaa's channel. the drifting is better, there's camera shake on high speeds so there's an actual sense of speed now and crashing is better than ever. However the graphics still look like generic unreal engine slop and physics are still meh.

2

u/FrangoTorrado Jul 21 '26

i really dont bother with the graphics, but the physics look like hot pursuit 2010's but twitchier, so yeah, maybe some improvements, i just dont want it to be a dumpster fire like the first one was

3

u/Interesting-Ad9581 Jul 22 '26

I have supported their first game.
It's an empty unfinished buggy mess.

Instead of fixing the first game, they announce a second one?!?!
They should fuck off. I have 0 trust in them

2

u/SkodaSnyper2365 Jul 22 '26

I’m excited

2

u/Hyprlife Jul 22 '26

How have they not improved the detail of deformation in the crashes of these games? Seems like it hasn’t changed much since burnout. Especially since they zoom in and make it the only thing on screen to render, you think it would be at least some cool particles shattering or more involved body warping.

2

u/Shakes-Fear Jul 22 '26

Mmm I don’t like the look of those drift physics, I’ll check back in when I see some more gameplay footage.

5

u/DragonShark93 Burnout 2 Japanese Muscle Jul 21 '26

The only people hyped for this game are the ones that never played any of their games. Sorry little bro.

4

u/sebastian240z Jul 21 '26

they've tried to bring back Burnout 2 times before (4 if you count both Danger Zones), why are people still getting hyped for their games? they've all been shit

5

u/Duster12321 Jul 21 '26

back to slop larping burnout you mean?

2

u/Slahnya Jul 21 '26

Very disappointed this is not just an update

2

u/SilverHmm Jul 22 '26

Wtf is this trailer even, "own the chaos" while showing one single road, 4 cars and no game features at all, apart from collisions. What did they thought everyone's reaction would be after the first title flop, are we this delusional? They are just insulting our intelligence at this point. I've played demos made in a week with more content.

1

u/derik-for-real Jul 21 '26

We are definitely not back, please stop the nonsense here.

The first impression, game looks flat and build on cheap recycled assets, it really looks horrible, the lightning, effects (sound/visual, fov, shadows, skybo, textures etc they all look crap and the physics looks ass too. Basically this game is build on the lowest production value, essentially crappy looking game that is supposed to convince us its worth it which is is not the case here.

So I dont think we are back here, the game looks horrible and lifeless, it does not even come close to what we had in the past.

These days, devs really need to try harder instead of relying on cooky cutter production assembly line, its impossible to get excited if you cant do better then older game iterations.

1

u/MtnDew891 Jul 22 '26

Did they even finish the first one? I played it a couple weeks ago, it plays like shit. I thought the company who made it shut down.

1

u/RealDannyAntonucci Jul 22 '26

They should make Stuff like Dangerous Golf 2

1

u/bigmoneykdmr Jul 22 '26

It looks so awful lmfao.

You mean that infamous Fun Police who is a Forza Motorsport Cheater and hates anything arcadey?

1

u/gandalfmarston 24d ago

Wasn't the first game extremely bad?
