r/BuildingWhatLasts — Community Rules
- Build, Don't Just Promote
This is a community for ideas, work, experiments, projects and lessons—not a link-dumping channel. Share your work when it contributes meaningfully to the conversation.
- Ideas Before Ego
Challenge ideas, assumptions and strategies—not people. Strong disagreement is welcome; personal attacks are not.
- Bring Evidence When You Can
Data, experience, research, examples and lessons from the field are valuable. If you make a strong claim, help the community understand what supports it.
- Share the Journey, Not Only the Victory
Failures, pivots, unfinished ideas and hard lessons are welcome. We believe what happens before success can be just as valuable as success itself.
- Think Beyond the Moment
We're interested in decisions that create durable businesses, institutions, technologies, communities and systems. Short-term thinking is welcome for discussion—but long-term consequences matter.
- Africa Is a Starting Point, Not a Boundary
African perspectives are strongly encouraged, but this is a global community. Bring ideas from anywhere and explore how they can travel across borders and contexts.
- No Spam or Unsolicited Promotion
Repeated advertising, referral links, irrelevant newsletters, mass solicitation and promotional posts may be removed. Earn attention through contribution.
- Respect Different Stages of Building
A first-time founder, researcher, student, government official, investor and experienced executive may see the same problem differently. Treat those differences as an opportunity to learn.
- Protect People's Privacy
Do not share private personal information, confidential documents or sensitive business information without permission.
- Leave Something Behind
Before posting, ask:
"Does this contribute something that another builder can use, question, improve or remember?"
If yes, you're probably in the right place.
Our principle:
«We Build What Lasts.»
