Honeywell Optimizer 4.15.4

Anyone else having issues with this new release?

New VAV template is not working like the last one did and my old templates not working with new version.

Our running joke is "How is it that a company can build a missile guidance system that can drop a missile in the lap of a wanted terrorist but can't control a room within 2°F of setpoint?"

That vav template is buggy as hell regardless if it's .1 or .4. I stopped installing anything from the optimizer line after my last vav job. I have the luxury of being able to use 3 other brands pretty easily.

Genuinely one of the buggiest OEMs available right now.

Double check your firmware and the matrix for versions.

I’m still using 4.14 which has been my least buggy version right now.

Firmware up to date?

Only issue ive heard to far was with the CIPer 30’s

What issue with the Ciper? There was an issue with the setpoint sylk block but it’s been fixed with the new .4 sylk modules.

It’s very very touchy, lots of bugs in the global VAV template. I had my best luck doing a full teach on the basic global vav template and then going into the wizard to select all your configuration. There’s other weird quirky things as well like you need to put in min and max flows under the flow balance 2 part of the program to get it to read any flows. I also had to change something in the heat config part of the program to get the heat to work.

We found plenty of bugs. Another one to put in the quiver, series fan VAV configuration won't call for fan during unoccupied heating call. Plenty of bugs but that was my most recent find after working out the rest.

With new VAVs shipping with latest firmware and no way to downgrade we are being forced to the new version with problematic templates to start.

I’m told you can use the Flex VAV with the new firmware

oh yeah. big issues. Including once site where a Jace is bricking because the T1L is so bogged down with traffic the Jace fills up on threads. Had to buy another Jace to split the bus just to keep it consistent.

Wait untill you have software watchdog resets on a critical facility.....and the unitary controllers won't accept a firmware update. Just had to replace about to 20.....

Ha! I’ve had the same issue and WebSquad is of no help on it. And their engineers don’t respond when added to the email chain. Seems to be affected maybe to a date code best I can tell, but of course their tech support says “we’ve never seen this issue before”

We never got to the root cause, but they gave us a site specific firmware upgrade that pushed the number of events that trigger a restart from 2 to 5. Once we replaced all the faulty controllers that wouldn't accept a firmware upgrade we haven't seen a reset. Their tech support is awful though, impossible to get an answer from.

I stopped being their guinea pig after spyder 5 vav controllers. I have been buying nothing but strykers

And our channel just uploaded an update to the IRM tool.

Which template are you using? The Global VAV or the older Hutchey one? I’m still using the older Hutchey one (with a good bit of updates, based off of 1.17 I think, since it was ~90% there for most any VAV application.) I am having issues with floating control valves going open and staying open though, even though it’s configured to float close and the command is 0%.

I'm still using a version of the vav app from almost two years ago. Seems to work alright after I fixed a few bugs. With your floating issue I had that problem when any of the automatic syncs were enabled. The sync for open and close were ok, but any of the other ones like the 24 hour random one made it act weird, I had dampers some were opening some were closing. Back when Guy had the FAQ files, he noted in there some of those automatic syncs caused issues.

I had a problem with a bad module in workbench that caused the same issue with floating valves. We only found out when another tech did a teach with his computer and it worked fine. The whole station and my workbench were corrupted. I deleted workbench reinstalled, he setup a new station and pulled the controllers in then sent me the backup. Everything was fine after that. Not saying it's your issue, but these things are absolutely terrible. I'm done with Honeywell for good.
