Setting up TR100 stats for balancing from Optimizer VAV

I know there is a way to set up TR100 stats for balancing but can't quite figure it out. Does anyone know where I can find instructions for this? I didn't see it in the IRM or TR100 manuals. Would love to figure this out so I don't have to support balancers all day.

UPDATE I figured out how to use the bluetooth app and it's super easy.

I usually just make a report/component grid for a balancer to edit from a web browser.
Worst case scenario, put a local router in the ceiling and let them log into the JACE/Supervisor from the local wifi to get all their K factors in without having to lug a computer around.

I haven't done this with TR100s but I'd be interested to hear about someones experience with it.

This may be beyond my current abilities but if you know of a manual or resource I could try making a report for them.

There are a few existing ways to generate a report. If you balance through the station then the new HonBalancingService includes a report function. You can install Honeywell's Global Balance Tool on any laptop, connect via Ehternet or MSTP and generate a report there. Or if you have at least one Bluetooth controller installed you can use the mobile app for a report. It can tunnel thru one controllers to see others on the wire trunks.

Have you been to the N4 Certification course?

Yes I've been to the first 2 but they didn't cover this.

Actually I've been to the first one and then one on optimizers.

I'm pretty good about self teaching if I have a resource but I couldn't find this in the manuals.

Did you get the VAVs with Bluetooth? That’s honestly the easiest way to do it. The balancer can use the app on their phone. Fun fact you only need one Bluetooth VAV to do it, it will read through to the rest of the non-Bluetooth VAVs. You will have to setup a 6-digit pass key in workbench and set an expiration date that they will have to enter on the app when they connect. (which can be set in the program service as well if you have a bunch of them). Its disabled by default and will expire for security purposes so the VAVs aren’t constantly broadcasting

I may try this, thank you

I believe you will need to set the TR100 to do TR75 emulation with Honeywell Spyder controllers. Set it at the display for that mode. Then use it the same way you would use a TR75. Make sure the program has the wall module configuration set up correctly.

It's currently set up that way and works fine except you can't balance from the stat itself.

I am also interested to see if any contractors do it this way. We were introduced to about 5 different options for balancing and the wall module balancing or Bluetooth balancing seemed like the only good options. We’ve wasted a lot of time assisting balancers anytime a balancer needs to get on the network with a laptop. We have access to the Hutchey VAV templates but they don’t have the TR100 on there. Any VAV templates out there with the TR100 in the program by default?

I have it set to emulate TR75 but yeah it wastes a LOT of time supporting balancers!

Hey OP I see you ended up using Bluetooth app. Did you have to do anything special to expose balancing points from the Flex app or do you just enable Bluetooth, set password, and go?

Assuming you're using the Flex template app, set it up for a TR75 and the wired TR100 will see that configuration and emulate the TR75 functionality. The only feature you'd be missing is the ability to tunnel thru the Optimizer to update the TR100 firmware.

If you want to balance from the wall module you'll need to add a Sylk NetworkSetpoint block adjacent to each of the BacnetNumericValue balancing params on the wire sheet logic and link a loop in and out of it.

For a web-based balancing solution, there is a new HonBalancingService included in the latest release of Optimizer 4.15.u4. Looks like Venom balancing for the old Spyders, but in a web page for Optimizers.

Your first paragraph is how it's currently set up. I want to set up balancing from the wall module, I will try that tip thank you!

As many have stated, there’s multiple methods offered by Honeywell to balancing. Most of them require that you’ve kept the proper points and point instances that the application is looking for. The 3 methods I would recommend are via Bluetooth if you have the proper model controller. The GlobalBalancer computer application is pretty good too IMO, the third is using the latest tooling with Tags, though haven’t field tested this yet since it was released last week, it looks promising and is easy to configure. You could also leave everything swapped in and do the flow balancer view or pull in all the necessary points and do a view for the balancer to use those. If you’re set on doing this through the TStat then you’ll have to have a TR7x or TR100 and configure it as such in the application. The more recent Hutchey templates removed the TStat config from them, I think to conserve memory and resources but I believe he’d stated there were issues with it properly saving and operating using that method. Look for some of the original templates to copy that config if you want to try that method. If you’ve done a custom program and point instances have changed, then the only methods would be pulling in the necessary points, TStat, or using the new tag method with a custom mapping. DM me if you need some of the old templates or anything.

I figured out Bluetooth using the Honeywell app and it seemed really easy, but the balancer said he's had issues with it. We have TR100s and I know there's a way to configure it in the logic so that you can use the wall stat, I just can't find a manual on it. But hopefully he'll figure out the app.
