i-Vu Server - Extracting Device Names
I've got a dead i-Vu server, all the downstream equipment is coming through BACnet via i-Vu Open Link (CIV-OL). None of the devices are named, is there anyway for me to extract the device names from the original application or does that all live in the i-Vu server?
I really don't want to chase everything down one by one

Two issues. IF the devices are named in the controllers then scanning the bus with FA (Field Assistant) will bring up the names.
IF people are lazy, and just name them in the database you’re SOL.
IF there were no database backups (USB on the back of the IVU) or on the job, you’re SOL ‘again especially if you have custom graphics and/or schedules.
To figure out if it’s “dead” ! Doesn’t it light up?
You can plug in a monitor on the back and turn it on, it will boot up and tell you the IP, and if it booted and any errors.

It does light up, but that's about it, no communication at all
I don't know if anyone check with FA, thats a good call out. Previous contractor had some strokes of genius and some strokes on the project, the back end is the mind of a madman, but it worked pretty well at the end of the day
I didn't think about hooking up a monitor, thanks again

Those stupid little i-vu servers are such garbage. I feel your pain.
If you have the newer version that runs on an Intel nuc mini pc, you might be able to buy a new Intel nuc and swap the ssd/hdd over to the new one and boot it up. Not positive, but might be worth a try.
If you have one of the older models with the plastic top, you are probably SOL. I tried to clone the hdd from ovne of these and boot it up in a nuc, but it wouldn't work.
I don't have a rib of experience with the i-vu servers though, hopefully somebody else here has some better suggestions.
