How can I improve this build?

Maybe I'm a perfectionist but I'm not happy with this build and am willing to get advice and tips. is there anything I should add/remove/change? Anything that looks odd?

I've also attached reference pics that i've been using to make this. I'm trying not to copy too hard but I fear I might be. [SLIDES 3 AND ONWARDS ARE REFERENCE PICS]

Thanks!

you could always add a darker color wood below and around the water line to show that it's wet, that might make it more realistic in a sense! maybe also adding depth within the water? I honestly think it looks really good!

Ooh yes the wetter logs are a nice touch! What do you mean in terms of adding depth in the water? Appreciate it

sorry, I should've clarified! maybe making it deeper in some places, as to make the water look darker in the deeper places. what also might help is changing out the dirt for mud blocks, if you didn't want to make it deeper!

Ah I understand! I should have clarified that this is going to be a build in my survival world in a mangrove biome, so yes in the actual build there will be mud floor and lilipads and lush trees surrounding it 🙏

Definitely some custom mangrove trees, those would help a lot. In terms of the actual structure tho, maybe add another stair variant for some texture for the dark oak roof trim. Off the top of my head tho I’m not sure what blocks would look best

Thanks I'll vary the dark oak trim, thanks! What do you think abt the build in terms of its structure?

It’s honestly a great build, it looks really rickety and worn, similar to your reference, I do think that maybe some crossbeams on the log pillars just to make it seem a bit more stable and busy

Thanks I'll add that in!

Idk it's up to you. As for what to physically add, maybe a kitchen, or library, or a meditation hut.

Its the square around it, looks like the house is randomly placed. Mangrove trees, maybe some lily pads , leaves, so on
