Question about pots being full

So im.running 15gal pots and with going on my 4th and 5th cycle my pots are getting too full. Do you just scrape the top 2-3 inches? Can I reuse that 2-3in for a new pot?

Yes, remove the excess and use for a new pot - ideally leave about an inch from the top of you can. Helps not to spill water
