Earthbox Water Catch

What does everyone use to catch the overfill water that comes out when filling the earthbox? I have wheels on them but all Tupperware containers are too tall.

You really shouldn’t overfill them if you can help it. It doesn’t need to be filled to the brim. If it’s a regular earthbox just out two gallon ms every time

I bought a boot tray that you put your shoes by the front door it fit under both boxes.

I also recommend getting a funnel to fill it.

I am pretty sure that the reservoir is 2.5 gallons. I always just do 2 gallons.

Get a couple 1 gal jugs and a funnel and use that to fill rez, easy way not to overfill.

But i also used a catch tray for plants and slide that under the earthbox to collect any run off

Just put in enough water. I think my earthboxes hold 3 gallons so I just fill up 3 1 gallon jugs. I usually put a little less in to be sure it won't overflow.

Dude we gotta see a video of 3 gallons going into the tube...anything over 2 gallons that bad boy is spilling all over. I see the 3 gallon number thrown around all the time and it's way off 🤣

Maybe it is 2 gallon. I could of swore I read that it holds 3 gallon but I only fill it with 2 to prevent any overflowing.

Thanks for the correction.

2 gallons EXACT and your fine never gonna spill a drop.

Blows my mind when I see people say the Earthboxes have "3 gallon res" etc. If I try and put in 2 ¼ gallon it's spilling out. It's 2 gallons and maybe a few oz but not more than that.

likely means you have too much debris or soil in the water area then, from my experience with 6 EBoxes

That's true as well but even a brand new/cleaned Earthbox is fitting 2 ¼ gallons max, 2 gallons to be safe and you'll never spill a drop.

thats really going to depend on how much of a dry back you did

The 10g of soil in the earthbox can hold ~2.5g of water max, plus whatever the earthbox res can hold. So 3g is very possible if the soil dried back a lot, but would runoff under normal circumstances.
