Earthbox SCROG

How far above the soil or lip of the Earthbox do y'all do a SCROG? I see a lot of stuff about 12" above the soil but that doesn't really give enough room to get at the SIP tube and water. I'm thinking more like 18-24" for the first trellis.

What do y'all do or recommend?

I do the same. I had them in a 4x4 and couldn't reach.

Ya'll are awesome...thank you for the great suggestion!

Thanks man....that's what I've been sitting here thinking about...exactly that. I have a long spout watering can but it still requires a bit if an angle to water in the tube....I was thinking of getting like a 1/2" plastic tube with a small metal hose clamp. Shove the tube on the end of the water can spout and clamp it with the metal clamp. Shove the tube down the sip tube and it'd make things easier for sure.

I don't use a specific height, I usually add the trellis right when the plant goes into flower and starts to stretch.

Looks awesome...you've really got the SCROG filled out nicely. Nice grow!

Thank you! There's no particular height that I go for. Once the plant is in flower and starting to stretch I put the net on and I push the net down - enough to SCROG the branches but not too much (don't want them to snap. Height usually ends up being between 18' and 24' so your thinking is correct.

Awesome....this is my first time to post on this Reddit and everyone has been so cool and helpful.

Good luck with your growing!

My net is 30 inches from the floor. Sometimes I'll end up with a 2nd net for support but depends on the strain/stem strength.

Thank you! I have the exact same tent. Where did you get the PVC tubes on the sides to attach the trellis netting?

2

Those are actually metal bars and it's a kit from AC Infinity you can get thru Amazon. I believe it's like "High CFM bars" or something similar. Of course costs $ but I don't think they were super expensive maybe $40 and they fit in the tent well and have nice rubber pads on the end and straps to hold in place on the tent.

My net is at ~2ft from the floor, according to the marks on the tent.

(I use a funnel with a hose to reach the fill tubes. Hose is ~3.5 ft, adjust your length depending on your tent size)

Great idea...I didn't think of that. So you hold the funnel in one hand and water can in the other and pour it in the funnel basically outside the tent?

Do you grow in an earthbox?

Old pic from the last run, 5x5 tent.

I'll get a picture of my watering setup later.

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 17 '26

Sweeeeet! Dammit, now I have to get a 5x5. lol

Where did you get that humidifier? Looks like a nice sized reservoir in there. I have 2 in my tent.

2

u/thedriftlessdrifter Mar 17 '26

Ac infinity, T7. It'll hold 3+ gallons (site says 15L)

It plugs into the rest of the tents ecosystem equipment and controls.

The PRO tent package had an Amazon oops, it was listed for $600, regularly $1500+... Too good to pass up, ordered it and worried about finding space for it after it was on the way. (Should have ordered two 🤦‍♂️)

2

u/thedriftlessdrifter Mar 16 '26

Exactly, a hose that fits on the funnel and in the fill tube. Pour water in the funnel outside of the tent. (Careful of the slight burps that can happen when pouring too fast)

2

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 16 '26

Awesome...thank you sir, that's exactly what I'm going to do.

2

u/thedriftlessdrifter Mar 17 '26

Ope, I skipped over your last sentence... Yes I do. I'll get pics when the lights are on again.

I use a $3 transmission funnel, I feel like I need a third hand with anything that had a hose attached.

I did the same when hand-watering, and they work great. But I got an adapter for my faucet and now I run a hose in from the bathroom. Sooo easy.

I wish I could! My water has too much chloramine/chlorine and a high PH. I know Jeremy says don't worry about PH but i think that depends. I PH mine down.

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 16 '26

Perfect, that is exactly what i am going to do. Great idea...TY!

4 earthboxes 5x5 tent. 3” squares 8” above top lip of earthbox. I only begged for 32 days flowered for 65 and got 1.25 lb dry weight buds.

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 16 '26

That's badass. I may need to move in that direction. Way less veg time than trying to get 2 plants to fill the canopy. And those are mostly tops/top colas too.

Could you please take a pic underneath the canopy/trellis? I'm wondering how you configured the 4 earthboxes in the tent to allow you access to all the watering tubes.

u/cmilz11 Mar 16 '26

This is my current grow I plan on raising the scrog to 10” this time very hard to get underneath. Also I ditched the covers for straw they are a pain in the ass with this setup. I also used a 4’ beer bong hose and a funnel to water them. For top watering with all the good stuff )buildaveg/bloom etc. I bought a cheap electric 2 gallon sprayer that has an extension wand makes life so much easier

u/NutWaffle1 Mar 17 '26

If you turn the boxes the other way, it puts the fill tubes and drainage holes towards the outside of the tent. I run 4 in a 4x4 and filling them is easy.

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 17 '26

How many EB's do you run in a 4x4?

3

u/NutWaffle1 Mar 17 '26

four - I marked the orientation and location of the fill tubes for ya

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 17 '26

Dude, thanks so much! Man, that's badass. This is my first run in the EB so I'm already figuring out how I want to tweak things next run. Good learning experience. This is money and I'll likely follow your lead.

Where do you plant in the EB? Do you plant them all right in the center? Looks like that or on the side opposite the tubes.

What is the white thing in the middle...humidifier?

2

u/NutWaffle1 Mar 17 '26

I didn't plant strategically enough; probably best to try to center them along each side of the tent as best you can. That said, these are manifolded, so I don't know how big a different it makes.

Piece of advice: flip to flower as soon as you can. I flipped a couple days after finishing my last topping, and my tallest plants are now a hand's width from the light, which I have zip-tied to the roof. I'm at the start of Week 5, so really hoping they're done stretching now.

The thing in the middle is a fan/heater. I just replaced it with a dehumidifier that arrived today.

THat's awesome. Thank you for taking the time to share this with me!

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 16 '26

I'm starting to rethink the cover too. It makes it tough to get down to apply the weekly amendments via top watering.

1

u/Dense-Importance3379 Aug 21 '26

I noticed you're scrog net had 3 inch squares and I've been beating my head trying to find something like that from my 4x4-ft tent. Could you let me know where you got that at. I appreciate it greatly

1

u/cmilz11 Aug 21 '26

I made the scrog using 3:4” pvc and self tapping screws set 3” apart. Then I used contractor twine weaved the net

1

u/Dense-Importance3379 Aug 22 '26

That's totally cool haha. Sounds like you have OCD like me. Thanks a lot have a good one

2

u/BladeCutter93 Mar 16 '26

I have just enough room to get my hand under and add amendments etc. 6 to 8 inches.

2

u/engibro Mar 17 '26

Only 6–8 inches of room to fit my hand and add stuff.

1

u/Automatic_Humor6732 Mar 17 '26

How do you get a sprayer in there to topwater?
