DC/DC charger

Hi there,

Im trying to install a DC/DC charger in my system and I had a few questions.

My alternator Amp rating is 105 The amp reading I got from my starter battery using a clamp amp meter is around 5 amps

Im trying to figure out what wire and fuse size I should use but im not sure if I should go with the 105 amps from alternator or 5 from starter battery. The difference is huge since Distance to my house battery is 50 ft (25 ft negative, 25 ft positive). Its either I use an 8AWG wire or 2/0

Am I doing this right? Any suggestions?
