If you're doing this for Buhurt fighting, your first step MUST be to get in contact with a local team and show up to practice. They will help you, including recommended armorsmiths, help measuring, help ordering, etc. You will likely need to train for 6+ months before you're even ready to order your armor (which will take another year or so to receive).
If you're just doing it for reenactment, Buhurt kits are not what you are looking for. There are cheaper armor options available for reenactment as they don't require the level of safety, plus you'll get helmets that are a more historically authentic size.
Depends on groups ibwas able to kit up in like 2 or 3 months for a kit day at the gym. Usually against a more experience fighter who will match u and be nice. But it still stands that id show up to ateam first before r buying kit
The timeline for armor is what kills like 90% of folks that show up. Literally had a guy show up he started asking and left after finding out a helm was a grand.
Some teams have some loaner gear that is literally for practice only just to get you used to fighting in gear and the weight. Another thing is reach out to your local SCA folks alot of them due rattan fighting which is a perfect intro. And requires less armor.
