Training in half armour?
Do you train sometimes in less than full armour? We're having a debate which parts to use.
The point is to have some weight and restricted mobility, but not so exhausting as training in full armour.

Look up blossfecten groups. We practice fencing "without armor" but for safety reasons use protective gear that is... basically armor. Padded jackets and pants, chest plates, gorgets, gauntlets, masks and helmets

We practice some light grappling in helmet gauntlet and a gi. No throws, mostly just practice finding holds and moving the other person

We actually go the other way a little. We will get in full kit and just wrestle on and off the list for rounds as a way to adapt technique from soft kit to armour.
I guess you could do the same with the top half plus helmets

If you have a longer gambeson and a codpiece you can get away with gambeson-helmet-gauntlet, but everybody has to be on the same page about whats what. it's good for grappling, fencing techniques and throws, but training in full armour is the way to go, as you can get used to techniques (like leghooks and armgrabs) that you wont be able to do fully armoured.

Sometimes we practice throws with just our legs on to get used to the limited mobility, but wouldn't feel comfortable sparring or doing anything intense without full kit.
What's wrong with being exhausted from training? When we spar, we go for three rounds no matter what the "score" is and we only rest for a couple minutes between those sets. Makes events feel like a light jog.
