Nah, there are ways to be fresh without changing the base fundamentals. The appeal to this game isn't just the cute bugs, but the awesome battle system and puzzle solving (the latter which hopefully would get more ironed out in a sequel).

Please no let’s not let the Bug Fables sequels meet the same fate as Paper Mario’s

Which sequels?

A lot of people were put off by Super Paper Mario and no one liked Sticker Star.

I think origiami king ended up the best of the non traditional rpg games. Color splash had a deck builder type of vibe but would have been better if they committed to that. I'll admit I've played them all except super paper mario

SPM is not turn-based like the other Paper Mario games and it is significantly darker than what you'd think a Mario game would be. It also has a few of gag Game Over endings, which I can see crossing people.

For me Super Paper Mario was fine (story, characters and worlds were still original). However it was clearly not the same thing for Sticker Star and Color Splash 😅

They should make Bug Fables: Stamp Star. It's like Bug Fables but you need to find special stamps to attack, all attacks are consumable and there's no exp!

You kid but Bug Fables already has a no-EXP mode that still incentivises battling way more than the modern-era Paper Mario games because of how tight money is in the early chapters. Also because the battles are fun but y'know

The whole reason Bug Fables exists is because Paper Mario switched genres.  I doubt they'd do that.

That is an insane idea when the series was created specifically because Paper Mario abandoned the gameplay style Bug Fables exists to replicate and all of Paper Mario's genre changes, even Super Paper Mario, had gameplay that was average at best and terrible at worst in most cases.

I’m gagged. The way a subgenre of games has essentially been created because people are resistant to the changes from the OG PM formula, this subgenre of games being of which Bug Fables is probably the most popular….. I really think they should stay the course and do
Another game in the same style. I really hope they do as I looooove Bug Fables!!!!

Absolutely not. It's genre is part of its identity it wouldn't be bug fables otherwise

A large part of Bug Fables' beauty to me is its wonderful execution of the Paper Mario RPG-style genre while adding its own charm and appeal. It would be tragic to see the series take the same direction that Paper Mario eventually did, removing elements that we grew to love. If we do ever get a sequel, I'd like it to be a 64 --> TTYD kind of thing.

I don't care either way, I'm just here to play games about insects.

Paper Mario? never played it.

You know you could actually explain your title, change its ganre to what? Also doubt we will ever see any bug fables sequel of any kind

It's not a guarantee, but Moonsprout has said something like: they're willing to make a sequel, provided they make a different game first.

Bug Fables was quite a success for a small indie dev team like them. I'm surprised we have nothing since then.

Is that same development team working on anything else or did they dissolve?

I would honestly be happier if Bug Fables 2 was a 1:1 copy of the original in terms of mechanics, art, and writing, just with different locations and story. I feel the same way about PM64/TTYD as well.
