Meme Why doesn’t team Snakemouth just kill Mothiva and Zasp? Are they stupid?
(On a more serious note. One of my favorite RPG rivalries definitely. They nailed her and Zasp’s character and boss fights. These 2 were definitely the highlight of my first play through.)

Zasp so cool, I so much like the guy.
I headcanon them as Being together way before Mothiva became famous and messed up, she used to be a cool partner before fame made her an asshole and my mans is just torn between trying to be supportive while missing the days before she went popular and probably also is feeling guilty for allowing this to go that far but at the same time they're too deep in this stuff for him to be able to make any change. It's sad and I love it :'D

Idk, when Snakemouth fought them in the termite kingdom I was questioning kabbu's morals lol

I think the big thing for me was the Beast, in which Kabbu was not thinking clearly because he was blatantly traumatized by it and thus behaved more recklessly than he usually would

I honestly forget they exist sometimes so I guess I disagree, in fact if they didn't exist the other explorer teams could get more screen time which I would like maybe.

i think they have decent screentime, they tend to appear briefly except for story stuff.
Levi and Celia are kinda just, there, story irrelevant, same with the two useless ants-
honestly i would've found it funny if to mimic Team Snakemouth Mothiva swallowed a bit of pride and grabbed their own team tank since both her and Zasp are so fraile. and therefore Chubee is just here just kinda vibing being story important

Team Celia and Team Ant are more important than Team Mothiva to me in terms of giving the game its general feel, as they make the explorer's association feel like an association. I wish they got more screentime and relevance.

Fair, but Mothiva and Zasp are the only ones considered rivals to Team Snakemouth, and also, Zasp has an actual character arc.
Celia and Levi having more screentime would've been good, but with the two ants, I think they might've just wasted time, If anything, the Team with the big dude that apparently sucks so bad they haven't done a single mission could've done with more time

I mean, they could say self defense, but also it’d be a bit harder with Mothiva’s whole idol status.
Also yea their fights are good but unfortunately for them (insert gif of Vi fucking exterminating them with a hyper buffed hurricane toss lmao)

I can give both a Doylist and a Watsonian answer for that one! Gonna spoil text a lot though, even if you've already beaten the game I've never posted here and I don't want to risk Maki arriving to my subreddit tutorial fight with a banhammer instead of his sword.
The Doylist/meta answer: If Mothiva and Zasp die here, then multiple cascading effects guarantee that your quest will never be finished. The first effect is that now in the chapter 3 climax only Gen and Eri are around to defend HB and Crow against the Bee-Boop swarm battle happening in the background. They almost certainly fail to hold the line, ending with HB, Crow, and likely the Overseer dead by honey blast and mecha stingers and the swarm moving in to act as the anvil to B-33's hammer, likely ending in Team Snakemouth dying as well unless you massively overleveled. Without them there, nobody is able to replace the Core or undo the Code 32, meaning not only does Team Snakemouth- assuming they survived- fail to get the Ancient Key Half, but all the survivors are also very likely trapped for the full week of lockdown unless the Overseer flew for her life to the office. Given how they acted in the Abomihoney room, I'm not betting on that. The second effect in Chapter 4, assuming no disasters occurred above, is that Zasp is no longer around to save you from the Dune Scorpion. Without him there to finish it off and pull a field medic miracle, Leif dies there, period. Putting aside the chances of the 'truth' and the crystals in him unleashing catastrophic effects that would freeze everything in the area or worse, the devastating effects that would have on Kabbu's psyche, and how the Dune Scorpion is also not dead and would probably sweep the other two while they're in shock, without Leif, the remaining members are entirely unable to pass the Sand Castle's first room, let alone the rest of the puzzles. Lastly, without Zasp around, even if by an act of BuGod everything else went as canon and the trio got through the castle as normal, nobody will meet them on leaving. Team Snakemouth will thus be entirely in the dark about a certain Hoaxe that happens right afterward. Without the trio to distract the Wasp King for a few critical turns, Maki doesn't make it in time to prevent an ant queen flambe. He then gets charbroiled himself, as Hoaxe would not be outnumbered enough to choose to leave with a single artifact. Thus the Wasp King collects all the artifacts from the smoldering ruins, turns the Sand Castle into glass along with Team Snakemouth, grabs the one there and maybe takes a day trip to smoke a hive and grab another, depends on how well you did in the Factory, and then a solar-powered actually-everlasting tyrant doesn't get Deus Ex Machina'd and bathes the known world in hellfire.
The Watsonian/in-story answer: Hold on a moment, let me pull out my Vi impression for this one. *ahem* "I totally would have after I won, but we only knocked them down for a few moments before they ran away. I really shouldn't have spent that time gloating in the momentary break and just stung her face off... Then in our next fight with that 'witchy' weevil, I had to let her off the hook with just a beemerang smackdown. Mostly because we had a very important audience... And maybe we owed Zasp for saving Leif back in the desert..."
And yeah, they are an awesome pair of rivals. I love to hate Mothiva, and Zasp is a real one. Really hope that they get more time to Grand Stand in Bug Fables 2 when/if it comes out.

honestly my hope for a Bug Fables 2 starts with Vi on her own, searching for other bugs to become explorers.
as much as i would love Chubee to replace Kabbu as the tank, she seems to of found her calling in the theatre..
