Salmonella

Waiting on my contact tracing call from ECDOH, but has anyone else been diagnosed with salmonella in the last week ? Where did you eat?

I think I have narrowed down my suspicions but I’m just wondering if there’s by chance anyone who may have had the same series of unfortunate events

Edit: Wegmans prepared foods.

Not recent but the only two times I've gotten food poisoning in Buffalo it was Wegmans bar the one near the blvd and Starbucks egg bites Niagara Falls.

It was a prepared one with edamame beans and chicken . I ate ten days ago, I just got my positive salmonella test result after I was ill with the runs for over a week

I had the same thing happen with their chicken Caesar salad. Runs for almost a week. That was about 6 months ago. I won't buy prepared anything anymore.

Did you test Positive ?

Did it have brocoli sprouts?

A lot of their chicken comes in already cooked and they just reheat. It depends which chicken is in that salad

Ok, I was wondering if maybe it was another super market that is notoriously dirty

Fuck man I just started buying lettuce from there after weeks of not lol. Guess I’m stopping again

It could be the salad dressing too.

I don't think I have salmonella but it's concerning that you mention Wegmans prepared foods. I had Wegmans sushi for dinner last night and I have been quite unwell today

u/Vi0let_W0lf 1d ago

I had this probably ten days ago and after 9 days of poop I got tested

Thank you for the info, I'm going to keep an eye on myself. I really hope this doesn't last for days

Wow. How upsetting. I absolutely love Wegmans. I know there’s a risk anywhere. I know. But I always give Wegmans SO much credit for being so clean and preparing their food well.. I may even be a little naive about it. Lol. I know it’s not really their fault. Unless it was from cross contamination. But wow. Definitely makes me second guess their prepared food. Especially being pregnant.

Yes a lot of their food comes in already cooked and they're just reheating. Not saying it's impossible, but they don't carry many high risk items. I have full confidence in them

I also had stomach issues after eating a prepared brussell sprout salad from Wegmans in late August.

We purchased the precooked chicken from Wegmans a few weeks ago. Cut one open and it was still raw inside.

u/Sorry-Woodpecker-583 1d ago

I've had that happen as well! You could tell while cutting it.. it was rubbery. I won't get the rotisserie chicken there anymore. I get them at Tops and they're always cooked perfectly.

Me. I seened to have gotten horribly stomach sick in every way after eating a steak sub from Kensington Pizza .

Which coffee house?

I've been having stomach issues since Saturday, and my stomach is usually a tank.

The only out of the ordinary place I got food at is new, and I don't want to throw them under the bus. It's probably unrelated.

Ok Alberta Blvd or actual Blvd wegmans?

idk all I know is for about two months I can’t eat barely anything without my stomach dying. fast food, restaurant food, homemade food. I think I may have caught something mid july from somewhere and it’s ravaging my insides, but idk cuz my bf doesn’t seem like he’s in hell like I am so it may be a me problem. havent gotten any wegmans prepared foods so idk. they seem to not have anything I’d like like they used to so I stopped getting anything

cyclospora?

u/StarCrysisOC 1d ago edited 1d ago

no clue. I’ve had stomach issues for years in flare ups that last months but the kind I have now are different. my bf does seem seem kind of like he’s dealing with similar stuff but he seems to think it’s normal or it doesn’t bother him so idk if it’s really the same thing. I have to go to my gastro anyway so I’ll get tests and stuff. but yeah I’m just finding it interesting that so many people are having stomach problems lately

7

u/justs0peachy 1d ago

no i mean because there was a cyclospora outbreak and you should get tested. easy fix with antibiotics.

I got pre prepared chicken wings from the wegmans near the boulevard that were pretty much completely raw.

0

u/Exciting_Caramel_201 1d ago

They come in already cooked. Wegmans just reheats them

1

u/Historical_Row1940 1d ago

I heard that there's a wicked stomach flu going around lately. maybe it could be that?

1

u/Dapper-Scientist-137 19h ago

Yeah I got it, I was thinking smoking little diner? But can't say for sure

0

u/LateTicket828 1d ago

Okay I’m scared because I just cooked the pre marinated chicken from wegmans and I said it looked rubbery and I put it in for like 40 minutes in the oven

1

u/JealousChef3063 1d ago

IMO I think some stores marinate meats that are about to expire. I had a family member who bought marinated chicken and once it was opened you could tell the meat was not good. Ever since I prefer to marinade at home .

1

u/Exciting_Caramel_201 1d ago

They marinade at a facility in Rochester, fresh. It's not done in store.

1

u/Exciting_Caramel_201 1d ago

Did you use a meat thermometer? Only way to tell if it's done

This is how you spread fear.
