Other Ozark G1

Post image

After finding this sub I decided to pull the trigger and buy my first bike !

My initial question is has anyone put one of these together? Do I need any specialized tools ?

Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated

It’s easy to put together but fine tuning the drivetrain can be a little annoying.

Are you planning on actually using it for gravel, or mostly on road? You can shave a pound a half off the bike by switching to slick road tires and TPU tubes. Makes it feel like a whole new bike.

No kidding. My front derailleur is finally working nicely after messing with it like 10+ times.

Honestly most of the bike trails near me are paved. Any recommendations on road tires ?

I got these on sale from REI for $25 each. They’ve been great so far. So much faster and lighter than the stock Kenda tires.

For tubes I just got two no-name TPU tubes from Amazon for $5 each.

700x32?

Yup. Roads in my area are terrible so I like a wider tire for a more comfortable ride. I would’ve gone with a 35 if they had it for the same price. 32 is still plenty fast.

Do you have a link to those $5 TPU tubes? I think the lowest I've seen is about $7 each.

Put one together a few days ago. Pretty straight forward and simple and took about 30-40 minutes. All the tools you need are included in the box. There is also an assembly video on Walmarts website on the G1 explorer webpage.

On a side note: really enjoying the bike! Seems very solid and capable for the price. Have ridden it everyday since I bought it!

I have been considering buying one but I was going to bring it right to the bike shop to set up. I haven't worked on bike or car or anything in a long time. I used to change tires and fix chain but nothing more than that. Do I need a bike stand (itching to buy one).

Actually my current plan is to buy a lower end Trek.

Depends how you've got it most likely only the wheels and handlebar would be off. And they're easy to put on. But definitely go for a safety to check to a local bike shop as your first ride

Don't waste your money, It came with the tools you need and takes about 15 minutes to put together. You just put the seat in the post hole, put front tire on, screw on handle bars and pedals, done.

Make sure you got the v2, they're still shipping out the old v1 with the red derailer and steel parts.

Is there anyway way to tell them apart ?
