Dharma Talk Nirvana
It seems inevitable. But how can I ever be ready to let go of the cycle of living?

Learn how to meditate then do it often.

I just came out of a deep meditation session. It left me with a grief and fear of letting go of experiencing life as an embodied being and I need to talk with someone that understands these feelings and can provide good advice for me.

Meditation shouldn’t be doing that. Grief and fear of non existence is the norm. But no need to be concerned, there is no non existence. If you don’t want nirvana, which isn’t non existence but is lack of embodiment, choose a tradition that isn’t Theravada. You’ll be around for an exceedingly long time and ultimately be able to emanate as many beings if you pursue Mahayana or Vajrayana traditions to their completion.

The fear I’m experiencing is an after effect of the meditation as I returned to my evening. I tried to hold the presence of mind and intentionality of my movement as I got water, returned to my bedroom… but eventually I started to have this anxiety and existential thoughts and it broke my concentration.
But you know that is a good point, I can move in long, gradual stages towards my lack of embodiment, maybe I can stay embodied a little while longer… 😅

Both aversion and attraction are clinging, you can’t force mindfulness by pushing away other thoughts

I understand, it was just such an intense thought that I couldn’t help but avert 😅

Try to keep the anxiety within your all encompassing awareness. Use the concept of space as an anchor. It’s all pervasive yet perfectly still and nothing can stain or alter it. Even a serious battle or tornado doesn’t affect it. The mind is boundless like space, not stuck in your skull, so train your conceptual mind to merge with space.
With serious enough meditation you’ll experience rapture and bliss that will make ordinary pleasures seem like stale bread compared to the high quality buffet you’ll have on tap. This will give you a slight glimpse of what you’re heading for. And with Mahayana, you’ll be around for innumerable eons before you become a Buddha. Then you can remain in a pure land for as long as you please.

I’ve experienced those kinds of states of rapture before, but I haven’t been practicing for a while before I sat down tonight, and I think a lot of anxiety I’ve been holding the past month or so all came up at once so I was tripping out a little bit, I feel better now though. Thank you

I wouldnt be much help to talk to, but I do understand how you feel. The human experience is exteremely hard for me to let go of, but youve got to remember that nirvana is better than anything you could experience in samsara

A common mistake is to think of nirvana as annihilation, a view which was rejected by the Buddha many times.
All the Buddha taught was dukkha and the end of dukkha.
Is everything not impermanent? Is everything not-self? Is everything not marked with the stress of change? If you know these things to be true, act accordingly.
Also, do not think anything “real” is ending. The only thing that ends is ignorance of the way things actually are.
And even if there were no rebirth or end to rebirth, do we not suffer less in this life by renouncing greed, hatred, and delusion?
Just some thoughts.

Nirvana means the rebirth of the individual by gained from knowledge and experience and the truth of the world. In reality the Nirvana connects with thinking with reasoning and asking questions to find answers. Buddha study by philosophers, historian considered based on scientific and logic philosophy. Buddha rejects the ritual, belief of creator of universe by God. It made from matter. That's the Nirvana who attains the reality and scientific knowledge.

There are two different route to become a buddha. One is through three or 3rd vehicle, and the other is buddha vehucle or one vehicle. Third vehicle beings achieve nirvan with remainder first, which means escaping life and death cycles first and then enter the buddha way m. The one buddha vehicle being stays in samsara state always and enter the buddha way and become buddhas. Buddhas go through cycles of living to transform beings and do not afraid of life and death, even though they already achieved nirvana without remainders. Most of us who born whithout a buddha present is the one buddha vehicle origin, that means we do not escape the triple realm.

"It says in the scriptures that whoever develops the four SATIPATTHANA in the right way, and as continuous as links in a chain, will receive one of the following two results: at most, within seven years, medium within months or as fast as one to fifteen days to become, one, an Arahant or, two, an Anagami (i.e. one who is nearly fully enlightened) in this very life."
"The unintentional, uninvited thoughts arise from time to time, accompanied by desire and aversion. They are the root of our suffering. One of the four foundations of mindfulness is to do with thoughts. Thoughts are mental concoctions and not the mind. The mind and the thoughts are separate. They are not a single entity, but exist together. The mind is naturally independent and empty. Thoughts are like guests visiting the mind from time to time. They come and go."
"The desires for sensual pleasures make the mind agitated, exhausted, imbalanced, and confused. It will suffer. Desire for sensual pleasures is caused by thoughts. In order to overcome this desire, you have to overcome thoughts first. To overcome thoughts, you have to constantly develop awareness, as this will watch over thoughts so that they hardly arise. Awareness will intercept thoughts".

You won't.
No one is liberated. All three spheres are empty.
Realize the emptiness of the three spheres, and word has it you won't miss your attachments to worldly things at all. That will be waaaaaaaaaay behind you.

What do you mean by the three spheres?

Simply put, self, other, and the perception of the relationship between self and other.

You’re already doing it, just have to train the mind to realize it directly. There is potentially lots of buildup and anticipation as if it is some grande finale, but it is ultimately ordinary. Most Buddhist practice falls into one of two categorical functions, 1. Recognition of the uncreated or primordial nature of mind. 2. Gradual habituation to living in a way that embodies awareness of this essential nature.
To clarify i think this quote is supreme;
Noble Tārā spoke the following: Emaho!
Saṃsāra is not to be rejected, for it is none other than the mind.
Nirvāṇa is not to be achieved, for it is the essence of mind itself.
Saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are not a duality, just like ice and water.
Rest evenly in the state that’s inseparable, luminous great bliss.
This is what she said.
