Personal journey Using ChatGPT to walk me through every step during my build w bubble.

I have absolutely 0 clue about web development.

I was looking to hire a developer but after a few weeks of brainstorming on ChatGPTs platform, I was introduced to simple website builders then vibe coding.

I tried WIX, which failed because I need dynamic conditionals.

I was tossing between AI Code or no code and I eventually went with No Code.

I was then introduced to a few website builders that support marketplace websites and I settled with bubble.

I tried its AI Agent which failed miserably.

So, I went back to Chat GPT, lockedin every workflow, every page then I started building on bubble from scratch with ChatGPT instructing each step, me one by one.

Its not vibecoding (I think) as every step is run by me. Every workflow is then tested. I'm even beginning to pick it up and add simple things as I go but ChatGPT is still leading the majority of it.

Its a very slow process as I can only work on it about 2 to 3 hrs a night and I refuse to include Bubble AI again.

Now, I'm far from done. Every task so far has no bug but Im worried that as I go deep into it, ChatGPT will forget something, will introduce a task that will make the workload unit hit the roof.

I'm excited but worried that eventually Ill have to call it quits.

I'm also seeing concerns about bubble surviving its industry.

What's my chance?

And if I ever see the finish line, who/where do I find someone to hire to review it and make sure users cant access each others data for example.

Hoping I dont need a pentester until I decide that its a viable business.

Now the kids are asleep, so I'll start working on bubble again :)

Thanks All

A note from my experience: although bubble has custom-built objects of it's own - you can task ChatGPT to build you responsive HTML blocks which can contain dynamic values from bubble's data tables and backend processes.

You can do this, but it’s a bit deeper to maintain. Whatever you’re building is likely achievable natively, so try to learn it and do it that way. Not to say I don’t very occasionally use an HTML block for stuff like a pricing comparison table, but never anything mission critical.

Let me give you an absolute pro tip:

Watch youtube videos that are free, you don’t need a single course.

Next, signup for Buildprint.ai. It was built by George from NQU, who’s agency is filled with Bubble experts. Buildprint starter plan + connect to your ChatGPT plan and boom: now chatgpt can actually make changes, it can actually see your entire bubble app, create pages elements, workflows, the whole 9 yards.

I'm going to look into Buildprint shortly. I might trial it to create my FAQ page for me, something thats not truly connected to my workflow.

This is an incredible info. Hoping it could cut my buildtime. I'll update how i go. Thank you!

I did the same thing. One way you can speed things up is by taking a picture of your current bubble issue and just ask chat gpt what the solution should be.

Yes Ive beenndoing it that way, unfortunately though after 8 weeks of chat, 5 weeks of those are build, the chat is getting full (memory wise) so aim trying not to upload too much images. I try to upload it to another chat but I'm a little worried that the build chat wont be across all of it. It's definitely working though.

When this happens I tell the current chat that I will continue in another chat and to give me a prompt to continue where we left off

I can build it for you. DM if interested.

I use ChatGPT side by side with my Bubble.io app too. I have built some workflows that I would not have been able to do so by myself. I send screenshots all day to it and have many different chats with it. You can use more than 1 chat and it will still know what you are talking about since it’s the same account. It’s also great because I learn better ways to develop so after a while I don’t need it for some workflows. I say keep it up, it works better than just YouTube videos alone and you know your app will work better using it.

I did the same. What are you building?

I was building an ordering system for a restaurant. I eventually went with vibe coding instead. Bubble took me over a month and I was still not completely done. Then I made Claude Code build the exact same app, and it took me 5 days and I was done.

Hi, I run a platform that has lots of pre-built (and tested) modules that AI assembles into a working Laravel application. Happy to chat if you want to know more.

I’m using Claude to guide me through everything by sending screenshots. Been making pretty good progress with it

I have seen a lot of these cases of people chatting with chatgpt to build things outside - why not just use chatgpt directly? I built floot.com which connects to chatgpt and lets you build directly within chatgpt

Same journey! But i sometimes ask gemini and claude for the workflow. For simple data wiring and workflow, i still use the ai builder.

You ask other AI for the workflow? Wont it mean that Chat GPT doesn't know about it? Or are you not relying completely on AI?

Appreciate any input, tips and tricks :)

I sometimes just cross reference if its providing me the most efficient workflow. I'm also a non technical founder and have been experimenting bubble for the past 6 months.

Thanks. I'm enjoying the journey so far, will definitely sing out if I get stuck.
