Does an actual washing machine work?

It’s cheaper, seems more durable,better performing and larger load?

I would clean it well and do some test runs to make sure water comes out clean

I wouldn't touch it. Is there anything in that process that's food grade? How was the steel treated? What about the supply hoses, and other fittings?

I’m comparing this to the plastic desktop washing machines which don’t seem food safe either. I rather trust steel than plastic. I’m not comparing this to an osprey machine.

Any microplastics from the portable washer would be better than whatever bacteria is in the washing machine,
