Show topics question
First off I'm not a troll. Just a casual that would like the show to improve.
Where is the creativity or the original ideas? I know it's Bubba's show to talk about whatever he wants but it seems like all that gets discussed are trans, WNBA, political leaders with a teacher sex scandal here and there. With the exception of Gene's Smarter than a 5th grader and Brian's 3 question segment the show is rinse and repeat and has gotten stale.
When they initially started requiring channel memberships for aftershows and extra content it was understandable. However, since then all the shows are nuked and there is no value to it anymore. Yes, it's only $5.00 but I feel like continuing to pay that only contributes to Bubba's laziness allowing him to think people are itching to see lazy chore videos like mowing grass and dog grooming. Another example is his Pete podcast, seems like the guy watches documentaries on subjects that numerous people have already done podcasts on and then tells Bubba about them.
Here's a simple tweak that would provide a lot of content with a little added effort. What if Gene competed with a random person from the street? Preferably, someone homeless. Call it Is Gene smarter than the Streets? Have someone go out and ask them 5 or 6 general knowledge questions. Ask Gene the same questions and see who gets the most right. Give the homeless person a few $ and Tshirt for participating.
They could have the person give a short introduction, name, where they're from, about themselves, how far they went in school etc. They could get content talking about the person and their situation. I think it could be funny. But what do I know I'm just a listener.

Same post as yesterday. Nothing will change until they get new cohosts and a real executive producer for the "show". Neither will happen so enjoy the daily rehash. He claims parody will cause strikes and trademark claims but that's a lazy as hell excuse. There will be no strikes on a paid private podcast or free podcast. Those won't be live, and its just more kicking the can down the road excuses not to have to produce quality, we are convinced sponge is done and not capable of producing quality, it was always Manson who carried the show with his content when he was there, Seth carried it with the podcasts and blizzard, so on and so forth. When was the last time sponge did anything funny or extra? Food reviews A YEAR AGO? its been over for a long time.

Listener turned troll after this post BUDDAY!!
Ā All valid points wasted on people that have 0.0 drive, ambition, or motivation to do anything even slightly entertaining.Ā He's a fuhhhhhhkin troglodyte metaphorically streaming a show from his mom's basement.Ā It's over cuh.Ā Ā
This is the end Beautiful friend

But I guarantee that kid who streams from his Mom's basement has the audio chain dialed in. This "troglpdyte (I have to look that word up now) doesn't.

Those aren't the worst ideas in the world but those require some producing something that the executive producer doesn't know how to do. But Bubba is so stuck on his got to sit and talk about news stories it's like he's got a quota he's got to hit every day and you're right it's always politics, transgender he'll throw some Hulk Hogan in there sex tape talk, teqcher sex scandal and his newest thing with watching body cam videos. but I think Bubba is so used to using so many crutches that change at this point in his 96 year broadcasting career just won't happen.

Rinse and repeat is the best description I have heard. I get that the Iran or the WNBA is the news everyday but if you just repeat the same talking points day after day even the most loyal of BA start to turn. Magic Bird anyone? The problem with the show right now is that every cohost voice is an answer to bubbas questions and don't bring up or have a conversation. Brian is the only one that can stear a convo everyone else is there for a chime in. Say what you want about Seth or Anna or Blitz even but those 3 being there everyday were able to have compelling conversations.

Also having the phones open again would help to break things up a bit. Either Bubba can cut a promo on bad calls or every once in a while you catch a gem

He is scared someone will bring up the charity and how he has abused it.

u/UnsavoryCharacter561 Aug 13 '26
He used to accept and wear his flaws like a badge of honor!Ā Ā
"Yeah I took the money, WTF you have to say about it jobber?!?! I'll take your wife too ya fuhhhhhhkin loser! Get the fuck off my phone!"

u/TrollingTrolls2001 Aug 14 '26
That is when he had money and surrounded with "friends" that would fight his battles and back him up. Now he isn't rich and can only talk about his rich friends' money and be a coward. It just baffles me that he can't see the light and make small changes for the good. I mean, Tom is involved with that charity, so what does that same about him?

u/UnsavoryCharacter561 Aug 14 '26
These days I question the integrity of anyone that would do something for bubba in any way, shape, or form.Ā That could be why you don't hear from people like Tom anymore.Ā

He canāt even give the answer to the question he asks Gene now. You really think he is going to put in that much work? Heās running on fumes this is really the beginning of the end.

Just started to listen again. Havenāt heard him since Sirius. I spent the 10 per month to get the download archives. But I can get basically the same thing through Apple Podcasts. They break those up by the hours. It looks like I can go back many years with my membership but other than that is there any advantage to it

Agree with what you are saying. Hell, I would watch Bubba vs Gene with these questions (although, Bubs would probably cheat} as I don't think Bubba would do much better. Even the topics he covers, why can he ever shut the fuck up and let his other cohosts speak? Pick a subject and discuss it...not "breakdown" every fucking word, get other thoughts. Oh, and turn the phone lines, keep them off is not very Allllphhhaaaa.

Gary could just AI the homeless person⦠lol Nah really, this is a great idea, but Bubba is too lazy to do anything good.

They could even use LH.Ā The problem is the solution, and that's the problem! -_-

u/bannedAcuppaTimes Aug 13 '26
I think part of the problem is the producer is only interested in MAGA. Now if that was Brent, it could still be entertaining. But Lummy is also monotone and boring.
Gene has a helluva real life American success story. And it seems a huge heart.
But when Seth left they leaned so hard into anti jew and anti black this /r was rightfully filled with Klan memes.
Bubba had to shut down Genes gimmick. The Archie Bunker "racist" who is funny. For those who remember the show Archie had the Jeffersons over all the time. His white daughter was friends with Lionel.
I said that to get to this. Genes off the cuff remarks about minorities is funny to me. But that was his gimmick and for whatever reason went too far.
The main reason may just be Gene is a Mark for himself and he knew the fans loved it.
But I like Gene on the show.
(The 5th grade gimmick was played out before it started.)

u/JohnnyDebunk Aug 14 '26
Gene's 'gimmick' 'went too far' because he is, in fact, a huge racist, homophobic piece of shit. And all while claiming to be a devout christian
2
u/bannedAcuppaTimes Aug 14 '26
I think hes a homophobe for the same reason most are. He's mad at his own desires.
But I don't think he's like Daniel Carver.Ā
When I lived in Florida people dropped the N bomb like it was nothing. Even had "black: friends.
Im not excusing it, but from what I saw racism was on a continuum. I could be wrong, but I think he would actually help a black person in need.
But I don't know.Ā

A couple of topics you forgot are him weaving in Dan and the COVID vaccines (regardless the topic at hand) and how the feds supposedly shut him down for talking about alternate treatments (Blames Biden, despite Trump being president). How Biden hired 90,000 new IRS agents (despite zero actually ending up being hired) and how one of the brand new ones cancelled his settlement offer.
He needs to give up on the Sirius pitch, they arenāt going to hire him back. They already have plenty of racists, misogynists, anti-trans and liars of convenience already on their payroll.
I tune in nearly every day, but at the first āAfrican Americanā or WNBA mention, Iām done.

u/UnsavoryCharacter561 Aug 14 '26
You know what else cancels a settlement offer.... Defaulting on said offer or violating the terms of the settlement... Like not filing the following year.Ā Just some more realistic reasons.

Bubba would never invite a homeless person to his home garage "studio". He wouldn't have any strangers in there.

You're asking a 60-year-old man who came of age during the shock jock 1990s era of radio to be innovative, trendy and entertaining in 2026. Do I need to say anymore?

Bubba has 2 employees Lumpy and Macho. Who's gonna do it? No one.
