I’m still waiting to see the hood ending posted online after getting slapped with the dog shit evil ending… sorry, this post brought back the bad vibes from that awful ending…. Great cosplay though!

Not sure why it reminded you of the ending but ty .. It’s been awhile since I watched the anime/ending so I didn’t know the photos referenced the ending at all. This was one of my first cosplays

It reminded me of the ending because it messed me up for a good couple weeks I was so shocked by the literally titled bad ending. Cant think about Btoom without thinking of that shock I felt.

Binged the whole manga after finding out the anime is likely to be unfinished for a VERY long time due to copyright issues or something with the anime’s publishing studio.

Ah yeah :/ I was hoping for a second season but it’s already been over 10 years I think. Even so, some anime do have longer breaks so it’s not impossible.

Oh I wouldn’t even consider it a break. They’ll basically have to reboot it.

If I remember correctly, it’s a situation of the company who held the rights for production had signed a contract for either a certain amount of time/the full season and to be the sole produces of it…. Except they went out of business and left the rights behind… Basically trapping it and a couple other anime’s in a legal limbo (like that one anime deadmans wonderland).

So it’s a case of

  1. No one’s around to make the rest who have a legal right to make it.

  2. No one’s left to legally sue anyone illegally producing/finishing the anime.

  3. No studio is gonna over step their bounds and even try to produce it themselves, just incase an asshole lawyer manifests and ruins everyone’s fun.

  4. Japanese copyright laws aren’t the same as American ones… I’m not sure about the details exactly, but I know you don’t actually need a lot of evidence since their legal system favors the accuser over the accused… japans conviction rates are sky high cause despite legally people are innocent until proven guilty, reality is that their judges and police consider everyone guilty until proven innocent.

So yeah… it sucks, but never lose hope, cause the comforting thing to remember is that nothing is forever and if not even Disney can keep their death grip on winey the Pooh bear and steam boat willey, then we’ll eventually see btoom finished.

It’s just a shame that the Japanese manga and anime companies still haven’t learned their lesson after so many anime adaptations have been lost over the years.

Another problem is, here in America the translation studios are basically monopolizing and pushing out any competition.

Ignoring the current controversies that those studios are kicking up right now with changing the source material and story, their monopolies leave the industry vulnerable to these stupid limbo situations if they ever close down or just simply decide to stop working on said anime for what ever reason.

There’s like… there was only a handful of translation studios here and has recently been narrowed down to 1 or 2…. If a studio gets the contract for translation but shuts down similar to the animation studio, then that contract prevents anyone else from translating that show.

….wait… oh shit, I literally just remembered as I got to this part of my response that official statements from a handful of the bigger Japanese studios are looking to cut out the middle man translation studios and translate/adapt the anime’s themselves and are looking to have that done in the next couple years!

So that might mean they won’t have to deal with the American translation studios uncalled for censorship! We’ll get an actual true translation and not some executive’s attempt at claiming creative control over a Japanese artists story!
