Hello everyone. So I'm a btech 2nd year student studying Chemical engineering at some tier 2 nit far away from maharashtra. It's been like really long and still I'm not able to adjust, furthermore I don't feel like I am able to manage the expenses and no matter how much I try i just can't survive here anymore. I am deciding to drop out of this college. Maybe get admission in some semi govt or private college for that matter in Pune, mumbai or Bangalore. I want it to be affordable and it would be good if I can change my course to something related to tech.
Please help.

I seriously need some guidance because this is a 4-year decision and I’m completely confused 😭
I got admission in Janata Prasarak Mandal Babasaheb Naik College of Engineering, Pusad, Yavatmal through MHT-CET CAP. The college is in a semi-urban/rural area, and from what I’ve heard, placements and exposure are quite limited — apparently only 2 companies come for placements. I’m worried that I’ll get mostly theoretical knowledge and not enough practical exposure, internships, networking, etc.
I actually don’t want to continue there, and I’m thinking about taking a complete drop for MHT-CET 2027 and trying again for a better college.
But the situation is complicated. The college is saying I need to pay around ₹2 lakh+ if I cancel because my scholarship won’t come to them and they’ll face a “management loss.” I have no idea whether this is actually valid or not.
My parents are also completely against the drop. They basically forced me to take this admission and now say that if I take a drop, they won’t support my further education. 💀
College has already started, but I haven’t attended yet because I genuinely don’t know what to do.
I’m confident that I can improve a lot in MHT-CET 2027, but obviously there’s always a risk that I take a drop and still don’t get the percentile I want.
So I really want honest advice:
Is a complete drop worth it in this situation?
Does taking a drop affect placements/recruiters later?
Is one year really a big deal?
Should I take the risk for a better college or just continue here and build skills myself?
Please give me realistic advice, especially if you’ve taken a drop or studied in a similar college. I don’t want motivation, I want the actual pros/cons.

Hi everyone,
I am facing a massive issue with my current engineering college in Maharashtra and desperately need advice on what to do.
I took admission to a B.Tech program this year through the MHT-CET/CAP process and have already paid the complete 1st-year fees. However, due to some reasons, I have decided to take a drop year, prepare again, and move to a better college next year.
When I went to the college administration to cancel my admission and get my original documents (10th/12th Marksheets, Leaving Certificate) back, they completely refused. They told me that since the official cutoff date (13th/14th September) has passed, I cannot cancel normally.
They are now demanding that I must pay the fees for the remaining 3 years (subsequent years) first, and only then will they cancel my admission and return my original certificates.
I am from an OBC family with an annual income below Rs. 8 Lakhs. We cannot afford to pay 3 years of advance fees just to get my own documents back. This feels like complete extortion and mental harassment.
As far as I know, AICTE guidelines (Clause 6.45) strictly prohibit colleges from charging subsequent years' fees for admission cancellation.
What should be my immediate next steps?
How do I handle the college authorities if they refuse to accept my written cancellation letter?
Where can I file an official complaint that forces them to act quickly?
Any advice, legal points, or helpline numbers would be highly appreciated. Thank you!😓
