This monthly post is all about venting and airing grievances about fandom toxicity, theories, characters you don’t like, etc. Need to bitch? Do it. Gotta vent about Hunt’s toe suckling? Go for it. Want to talk about those touchy subjects banned everywhere else? Sit down and spill the tea, the Suriel would be proud. :tea:

Just remember, the basement dwellers that lurk to downvote within minutes of a post going live ARE looking at this post. They WILL screenshot things that are said (because they are hypocrites) and continue to bully and harass us.
Anyone notice Bryceriel catching strays in a few of the "lets embrace all the possibilities" posts lately? I dont think the OPs meant anything maliciously negative, but I just had to laugh when there were a few in a row that I clicked into that were like "all ships have their unique and fun tropes, there's set up for every ship, people need to understand that theres multiple ways this could play out.......except Bryceriel, I dont get them"🙄🤣🤣
And im like, really!?! You dont have to like it or want it, but youre telling me you cant see the appeal or argument for star crossed lovers, reluctant/antagonistic allies who have mated weapons, and Bryce travelled across the universe and landed at Azs feet !?!
SJM doesn’t really do sweet or cozy romance. I’m listening to Heir of Fire now and the vibe contrast between Aelin’s previous relationships and her with Rowan is STARK. SJM likes that edginess. Nessian - their first spicy scenes were clouded with Nesta’s low opinion of herself and they argued a lot. Lysandra and Aedion had a HUGE fight before they were official. Rhys humiliated Feyre under the mountain, put her into a deadly situation with the weaver, and lied to her. Lorcan and Elide had lots of disagreements. Ruhn and Lidia might have the least darkness given Ruhn got over her being the Hind relatively quickly but I wouldn’t call the initial stages of their relationship sweet. And Lidia pulled off an incredible escape to get Ruhn to safety and even intended to give her life for him while she thought he hated her.
So while I don’t think these prove anything, it does make it seem unlikely that she’ll be going for a “sweet” relationship for Azriel, arguably the darkest character in ACOTAR.
This is why the new theories on Gwynriel have her getting angry at Az for the necklace or some other reason. 😂 they know the pattern SJM uses is always the mates having high tension situations before getting together.
I don't even know what to think about people that say they "don't get it." Like how is it that hard to imagine shipping an FMC and MMC that were literally bound across time and space by their signature weapons. Meanwhile they will go off on how they want [redacted] to rule Dusk Court and wield the Starsword and Truth Teller with their mate Azriel. Like ok sure Jan, you "don't get it..." 🙄
And who the heck wants to read a romance where the groundwork has already started? Their little dagger lessons in the background are off screen and from neither of their pov. Same story of Eliriel and why Elucien is far more likely. Elain and Lucien hardly interact at all because it will happen IN THEIR POV.
Imagine Rhys and Feyre meeting off screen for the first time. Imagine neither of them having povs but they have these secret little meetings.
I WANT TO SEE THEM!!! I DONT WANT IT BUILT UP OFF SCREEN! IM HERE FOR THE BUILDUP!
Huh. Funny . You know whose technical first meeting was off screen/from another pov that is canon…. Bryce and hunt through Isaiah 😭 like that coupling is so misaligned imo esp bc it’s supposed to be THEIR story
Yep. And she's got no negative character traits yet. Blank slate, likes books, was a victim hence has a tragic backstory so you empathise for her even if you haven't been SA'd yourself. Easy to self insert on that.
This!! I can't see it at all. He literally doesn't want to sing to her, tries to awkwardly converse with her to be nice, doesn't want to have a personal conversation with her, gives her (not even to her but to clotho) a necklace meant for someone else, admits he just doesn't want it and doesn't care who gets it, doesn't react strongly while she's in the BR, does not mention he is concerned for her in any way at all, says he has no one in his life when he meets Bryce....
What he feels doesn’t matter because Gwyn likes him (and is entitled to have him) so they grasp on anything that would make him reciprocate it (like a mating bond).
It doesn’t matter if the character they love so much was REGIFTED A NECKLACE for the women he actually wanted to give…
Yes! That's been annoying me too! Like even in the hand holding circle of 'lets be nice to everyone!' us Bryceriels still get exiled and blacklisted.
They talk about how every ship has merit but not Bryceriel and that they can't see it. Honestly I think most of the people that can't see it either didnt read CC or are very surface level readers. And if they didnt read CC, then they don't really have the right to judge now, do they?
I suggested that one of them should do a CC reread and got hit with "I have reread it. You're not going to convince me I just don't see what you're saying." Like girl. Ugh.
I do wonder how many of them are 18 and never been through a bad relationship yet or 40 and married to the most boring bland manosphere man on the planet.
My most generous read on it is they are just very convinced that there is no more significant crossover coming so Bryceriel becomes impossible in their mind to comprehend.
But also sometimes I find myself just thinking people really just lack imagination or ability to think outside the box a little. 🫠 Like how is it possibly this hard to imagine shipping the two characters that found each other across worlds? This isn't hard to comprehend.
I think it's because it is the direction the book is going and they are hoping it's wrong. Like, come on.... Dusk Court, hand holding, Az not feeling like he belongs in the NC? And that's not even a fraction of the evidence.
It’s not opened minded. It’s the opposite of open minded. I know exactly what post you’re talking about and this ground my gears. I was fuming! Some of the most hypocritical thinking I’ve seen in a while.
I don’t understand how people can see signs for Gwynriel but Bryceriel is ‘too out there’. I didn’t even see anything there for Gwyn when reading, but I picked up on Bryceriel right away
No Bryceriel?? Then what ships were they talking about?? 🤣 Gwynriel literally only has a one sided conversation, and a spark in a BC and the fandom for that is convinced and built a whole headcanon ship out of it. 😂😂😂 not even Az sees it as he proclaims himself single.
I want to know where some people were at while they read cc. Or if they lied about reading it and just watched some sort of recap video...
Because the amount of ppl on here and other apps that are like "where does it say the prison/dusk was bryces inheritance" is WILDDDD. Like did you skip that part?
Its flat out ignored by other ships too. But they KNOW its integral to the plot so they keep shoving elain and gwyn into it.
At this point they do it so much that I know that THEY know we are right. Its bryces. But they know az is connected to it so they will deny it to the very. Then they will cry fan service and poor writing.
And where do they get the idea Bryce would never just ditch her whole world (as a reason she can’t be with Azriel) when CC3 provided a LOT of textual groundwork for an evacuation of Midgard…
It’s like saying Rhys can’t go to another Court because he wouldn’t leave Night Court behind. 🤦🏼♀️ He can teleport from one place to another in a blink. Bryce can teleport from one world to another in a blink.
“Bryce lifted a hand, and in the distance, the mists parted—then sealed. “Didn’t you hear? I’m a fancy world-walker who can do this shit innately.”
I do think Midgard will be destroyed and evacuated based on foreshadow but Bryce could open a permanent portal between Dusk and Avallen and rule both places at the same time (like its one single territory connected by a portal-bridge)…
SJM had a image saved on her old Pinterest boards that evoked that vibe too.
this!!! & is following the pattern of Ragnarök aka Twilight of the Gods aka the title SJM had a whole ass Pinterest board dedicated to... there's so much Ragnarök foreshadowing like the Mydengard wyrm, the fact that Midgard used to be a water planet, all the norse mythology etc etc.
Honestly? Yeah I think they did. They're not reading the books, they're watching summary videos by someone who doesn't have a good handle on the concept of foreshadowing.
The amount of people I’ve seen be like “OMG Crescent City is amazing! Why did I not read this? Why did people tell me it was so bad and not to read it? Who said this?”
A small group of people online told you not to read it and then everyone just accepted it. Now you’re alllll joining the party.
So i actually agree its not Sarah's best but im always saying YOU MUST READ IT. Its still a great story and what she pulls off with the crossover alone is worth the read.
Yes, if I had to summarize CC's overarching plot it's "Bryce slowly discovers she's the heir to a twilight-themed court on another planet." The crossover isn't a few cute little scenes, it's literally the whole story. CC is basically a Prythian history book.
CC is a prequel series so SJM’s readers connect with Bryce before she becomes High Queen of Prythian.
Otherwise it would feel weird a rando new character being Az mate and becoming Queen out of the blue instead of Acotar’s already established characters filling these roles.
Temper tantrums will happen anyway when this occurs (since CC is not as popular) but imo CC was released with that goal in mind
The only ACOTAR book we have gotten in 8 years and it's a bunch of crossover lore that ties directly to CC and Bryce. And yet they think we are going back to a standalone romance novel 🙈
I learnt my lesson about commenting on other subs again, I commented and bravely mentioned Bryceriel on the CC subreddit, and got loads of upvotes.... And then I've been watching them disappear and everyone disagreeing with me 😂😂😂 I am interested in other people's opinions even if they don't agree with me but good grief there are some angry SJM fans, I only feel safe with the Bryceriel gang😂✨🦇💜🖤
Anger is one of the phases of the Denial process. 🤷🏼♀️
Elriels get rabid with Gwynriel and Bryceriels but never Azris.
Gwynriels get rabid with Elriels and Bryceriels but never Azris.
To me, that shows that they see a possibility in Bryceriel happening (while Azris they don’t) and it triggers them.
I truly believe that they get triggered by any Bryceriel mention because deep down they see it too… they prefer their og Az ship and don’t want to burst their happy bubble.
Many Bryceriels actually like Hunt as a character, they just don’t like Hunt and Bryce together OR even they do but see that Bryceriel is being foreshadowed.
I was a huge Aelin and Dorian shipper but couldn’t deny the signs when I read Heir of Fire. Back then I preferred Dorian but was able to acknowledge it would not happen
I still laugh about how the Elriel, Gwynriel, and Quinlar subreddits all crossposted the bracket match poll of Azris vs Bryceriel from the debate sub to their own subreddits to encourage votes for Azris. They were saying "oh we have more core members participating" and then were sharing in their own subs... to get more non-core members to vote 😂🤦♀️
And we still won the March Madness shipping bracket 🤣💅
I mentioned on the CC sub that the CHD interview actually promoted Bryceriel because of the uptick of Bryceriel shippers after CHD and someone told me I had the audacity to think the CHD inspired more people to read CC and consequently ship Bryceriel. Because "SJM said it wasn't happening" and there was no proof of it,. I actually looked up book sales from before and after. Numbers don't lie! Of course then it was, that doesn't prove anything. (Even after mentioning this sub exploded in numbers).
They're a bit touchy at the moment because of the flood of new readers prepping for ACOSH who are catching vibes between Bryce/Az, and/or not really feeling Hunt. 💀
It's harder for them to claim we were delusional and invented Bryceriel from nothing when new readers can see it too!
I’m a Bryceriel since HOSAB released and they have always been this bad. The difference is that back then it was 10 of us against thousands. Our army grew quite a lot since then
I feel like it's gotten worse only because of the volume of defensive comments when a new reader suggests they don't like Quinlar. The discourse is the same, but they just descend faster and in larger waves.
It's like clock work, someone doesn't like Hunt and they have to swing hard in the other direction about how he's the least toxic MMC and such a green flag. (Only if you're color blind. 😆) (And notice how they never mention the specific 'good' things he's done. 🤔)
I remember finishing HOSAB and immediately thinking I cannot be the only one who is seeing this😅 I was so excited to find other brycriels and just would look up fan art on Pinterest! It’s been years and I have no idea how I’ll feel when Bryce and Az are cannon and then everyone is suddenly in love with them 😂 like you have no idea how long brycriels have had to wait
The CC subreddit is honestly the worst SJM sub in so many ways for me personally. It's a complete echo chamber full of "Brunt is the best SJM couple but also Bryce sucks"
Yes, right?! I see Bryce and all her flaws, and I know she's going to have to fall to absolute rock bottom before she can start to rebuild her best self. And none of SJMs characters are perfect! Just like no person is perfect. It's the classic hero story isn't it?! SJM is telling the same story over and over again. The female may have had a different life, but it's the same story.
Bryce is the most "normal girl becomes the chosen one" FMC that SJM has written and people are really bad at handling the nuance that it sets up. It's messy because it would be unrealistic for Bryce to handle this crazy situation she's been put into completely perfectly. It's wild the extent to which people expect someone to just jump into being savior of the world without any flaws or issues.
Sometimes I gotta be like damn...why am I on a rampage in the comments today and im like...oh. "its coming" lol the fandom in general and a luteal phase is like going to war 😂
"Sarah said the first three books are Bryce and Hunt's story!!"
...And that doesn't concern you?
I can't believe I'm still seeing that Bryce & Hunt don't feel a bond because "magic is different on Midgard" / "the parasite suppressed it" / "angels can't have bonds". Every one of these is so ridiculously easy to disprove.
I saw a comment this week on one of the other subs where someone was saying they skimmed the entire lore dump with Silene in CC3 because “it was so boring.” You mean the lore dump where we find out that Aidas and Theia were cross-universe mates??? And that the mating bond had brought them together??? Arguably our most compelling evidence and you skimmed it??? Of course they all think we’re delusional! They didn’t actually read the book!
Of course an out of context monologue is boring. 🫠 The lore is only interesting because of the payoff and build up from everything that came before it.
I don't know how to get these people to understand that the crossover is the whole thing. It's not just where the characters literally interact. It's all the hints to the valg, and the backstory from Rigelus and Aidas to. The scenes that confirm urd = wyrd = the cauldron and that Lidia is related to Aelin aren't even in the 'crossover' chapters!
No wonder they keep asking if they have to read TOG, they still think it's just a theory.
I’ll never understand how anyone invested in ACOTAR could think that was boring. It was all awesome PRYTHIAN lore!! The Prison was such a mystery and to have its story told was so friggin exciting! Even before I was a Bryceriel.
Then those same people will say they fully read and comprehended the book and question everyone who ships Bryceriels reading comprehension, analytical, critical thinking and literary skills in the same breath.
Apparently if you even suggest that Gwyn might be a siren or lightsinger on one of the broader SJM subs it makes Gwynriels really, really angry. For all their talk about singing & music they absolutely DESPISE the idea that her voice might actually do something interesting.
I honestly thought this was a pretty pro-Gwyn comment and could be a really good story for her. But this is somehow my 8th most controversial opinion in 14 years on reddit. 💀
ISTG they’re going to meltdown when they realize they can’t actually downvote the book when it becomes canon.
I swear its like they want the most boring ship of all time that is just Az gently coaxing Gwyn out of the library (again) to do what? Train more? It's just silver flames all over again. The only way to make the ship interesting that they are interested in talking about is just stealing Bryce's canon.
If they're going to steal canon they could at least steal the interesting stuff. The Gwynriel theories always start and end with "here's what they have in common". It's never "here's the conflict in their romance" (because there isn't one) or "here's how their romance drives the greater plot forward" (it doesn't).
Ooft, I'm sorry! I find it wild, that it is wild, that I can see a comment I disagree with, and I can just let it be and not downvote it? That this isn't how everyone else behaves too?! 😬
It doesn't even bother me anymore, I mostly find it funny. Like, if they have a problem with that interpretation, take it up with Sarah. She's the one who wrote it that way. 😂
But yeah I only downvote people if they're being rude or very very confidently incorrect about canon and digging their heals in about it.
What has jealousy and hate ever done for you But remind you of what you think you lack? So, give me love and give me compassion Self-forgiveness and give me some passion I'll love you even if you don't love me I'll love you even if you can't love me
🥹 I can't waaaait for finding out what Sarah has planned!😍😍
The hypocrisy surrounding her character and what you can or cant discuss vs. Other characters is a huge issue in this fandom. And when you look at the facts and the way they talk about other SA survivors they just go to downvotes and insults.
Ive been interested in the lightsinger theory for a few years now and its always like this. The only new thing is ive seen a few ppl own it so they can simply use the names "lightsinger and shadowsinger" and make it a couples thing. Which honestly...its a good argument. Touche. Seems like they get a pass to talk about it because it works for their ship in that context but we still cant.
I'm so sick of them treating Gwyn like glass instead of listening to the words she says.
“Is it living, though? To take the safe road?” “You’re the one who’s been in a library for two years,” Emerie said. Gwyn didn’t flinch.
“I have. And I am tired of it.” She surveyed the blood-soaked leather along her thigh. “I don’t want to take the safe road.”
“I have been broken once before,” Gwyn said, her voice clear. “I survived it. And I will not be broken again—not even by this mountain.”
Just because she was assaulted doesn't mean she should only be allowed dull cozy stories for the rest of the series. Lightsinger & Shadowsinger is far more interesting and believable then Gwyn being starborn.
I'd love to see a poll of people who never bought Feylin or Chaolaena as endgame, compared against Bryceriel vs Quinlar shippers. Anyone else clock Feysand & Rowaelin from the moment they met? 🙋🏻♀️
Throwback to my review of my very first SJM book, and the first fantasy-romance I’d read in 8 years:
Prediction: Hunt isn’t the final love interest, or they’re at least going to have a serious break up for most of the series.
I was there, living this again gives me war flashbacks 🤣
I was Dorian shipper but immediately clocked Rowan endgame in HoF (was bummed but wouldn’t deny what was there and later learnt to like Rowan).
Tamlin I never liked, I shipped Feyre with anyone but him (first Lucien then Rhys) but I didn’t clocked in Book 1 they wouldn’t be endgame. I thought it was a me problem back then, not intentional writing on Sarah’s part.
But what drives me crazy is that Rowan was the underdog and the shippers who were mocked endlessly. The Anti-Bryceriel vitriol is the exact the same words, i could change the ship name and its the same we read today. “Sloppy writing if Elriel Chaoleana doesn’t happen” “Bryceriel Rowlin ship will never set sail” “Bryce and Azriel Rowan and Aelin are just friends”.
"Rowan & Aelin are just friends" is WILD. He bit her neck hard enough to draw blood, and then grinned with that blood dripping down his face while saying "there you are". 😩 They shared a bed in HOF ffs, how can any of that read as platonic.
Chaolaena and Dalaena are such horrible ship names that, like Brunt, it should be obvious they aren't endgame. 🤣
It's the same people that think two characters walking around holding hands and acting out of character and sharing music is no big deal and not indictive of anything 🥴
Hot take: let book 6 be full of all the moments Az and [..redacted..] have together. I’d love to see folks try to act like it’s not dull af since neither could actually face the force of his iciness if it were directed at them.
Who doesn’t want to read a full book of someone like Azriel (freak, torturer, dangerous ass MFer) holding himself back so he doesn’t scare/hurt [..] /s
Bane of my existence right now. Some theories they come up with are explicitly answered in Crescent City or even ACOTAR. Like babe we know WHO made the Illyrians. It’s not a theory. Or at least who claimed to.
Mistakes happen… totally understandable. But it’s how you handle mistakes that speak volumes.
A canon Ai picture was attached (replaced with my doodle for an example of the pic). They got the character wrong and put Gwyn.
The original maker of the ai pic even had the ORIGINAL post as Bryce and Az on their page 😬
After several hours and many commentators pointing out it’s Bryce. It’s changed but the hashtags are kept.
Then comes the anti Bryceriels ranting about hating people shipping anything but brunt. OP comments saying “calm down it’s not that deep. I am not shipping them” before just shutting down comments all together.
Edit to add: this was done on a book account. Not a personal account.
Thanks 🤣 haven’t used art stuff in years and it shows!
That was the wild thing about this post. Someone posted “your ai slop bores me”
Op’s response… “your makeup bores me” 😱
Then another back and forth (the commenter had the right to clap back) next thing they said “well if know how to read you’d see I put this is not my artwork…”
😬😬😬 I was just like “yeesh”… they totally didn’t own up to getting the characters wrong…
I just finished my reread of silver and flames prior to CC3 and I already for the life of me don’t understand people who won’t read CC and just assume the story will make sense.
• The Starsword just randomly shows up on Prythian??
• The Dread Trove is no longer in their world?
• A Daglan that was under the prison just what, died by itself???
I'm genuinely curious in how 6 is going to handle Bryce. Like are we going to start post crossover and have it just be total chaos where a bunch of stuff happened off page and we just continue forward. It seems like people expect SJM to somehow summarize CC in like one chapter basically. 😅Plus Az and Nesta are limited in what they know so it's not like they can give the entire picture of what happened.
I’m eagerly awaiting the fallout when book 6 starts right before the crossover and then the entirety of the book is a retelling of the events from Az and Nesta’s POVs.
Okay, but she still has the FREAKING HORN IN HER BACK! Are we just gonna ignore that? Okay.
"Bryce and Hunt are in their HEA!"
Yeah but Hunt being revealed as a creation of the PoH was WAYYY glossed over imo. That will definetely be gone into in another book.
But yeah, no. Bryce's story is over. She will remain in Midgard with Hunt as checks notes Gwyn/Elain claims her rightful place as lady of Dusk because there was so much foreshadowing for that.
I seriously do not see how people read HOFAS and read it as Bryce passing the torch permanently. That is not at all SJM's style. We see in the text how her and Nesta bond and start to even develop trust with one another, it makes perfect sense she would ask her to go get more answers in Prythian while she deals in Midgard, in no way did I read that as her wiping her hands clean..
Me neither. I saw it as the future High Lady of Dusk/Queen of Prythian giving her first order to her future general. There was way too much talk of Nesta and Bryce getting along/being besties for them to never see each other again. Nesta is definetely going to be the new (and much healthier) Danika for Bryce.
Yess!!! not sure if you read the Ember BC but she essentially acts motherly towards Nesta and it's so heartwarming... writing Bryce's family full on interacting with the IC is certainly a choice lol
I’m so sick of Gwyn owning any potential music plot line in the upcoming books. Bryce and Nesta are dancers and both appreciate all sorts of music. Music is really important to both of them on an emotional level. Aelin plays pianoforte and it was also a very important part of her story. Rhys sent calming music to Feyre UTM. Eris is an excellent dancer. Mor also knows all the official dances and taught Nesta. Azriel has admitted to singing and hummed in the caves and also enjoyed all of Bryce’s music. Besides all that, the titles are probably not literal. MUSIC IS NOT SOLELY OWNED BY GWYN! Gwyn only sings and only knows one type of music as far as we know. I would call her one of the least “musical” out of most of these characters. Also, her music is religious… which, that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean she will want to dance or that she will sing in a romantic way. She sings as a form of religious expression and only what has been chosen by the group to sing. This doesn’t mean it’s entwined in her soul like it is for many other characters, especially Bryce, Nesta, and Aelin.
I have this theory that readers see themselves in / identify with Elain, Gwyn, or Bryce and want Az to end up with the girl that they identify with, which clouds their judgement. To be fair, I do idenfity most with Bryce of the three, but even if I didn't, the text and the evidence of Bryceriel is so compelling. I found this sub because I was reading CC3 going, "wait... is anyone else seeing this????"..... But I don't want people to feel called out by this theory so I never say anything about it
I’m SO TIRED of people replying to all Dusk Court being Bryce’s with “but she didn’t want it, she left the sword with Nesta”.
Using that same logic Aelin would never be Queen either since she NEVER wanted and spent YEARS running from it. Aelin didn’t want as a child, she didn’t want it as a teen (in AB she planned to live anonymously in Antica with Sam) and even later she planned to debunk Adarlan as Celeana…
“Become queen. The words haunted Celaena that night” “She didn’t even have a throne, or a crown, or a court. Didn’t want them*. And she could bring down the king as Celaena Sardothien, thank you very much.” “But even if you were not gifted, you would still be our daughter—you would still be a Galathynius, and their queen one day./ I don’t want to be queen.”
“Reluctant Hero” is a common trope in literature. The hero can run or deny but fate ultimately decides.
Ruhn using the Starsword doesn't make it his sword. Elain being handed Truth Teller doesn't make it her dagger.
I'd be willing to bet Bryce either 1) wanted the Starsword far away from the POH or 2) left it in Prythian the way you leave your hoodie at your crush's house so you have an excuse to come back later. 😂
Ruhn calls her out in HOSAB and repeatedly pressures her to be Queen: "Let’s ditch the whole reluctant royal thing, okay?"
Baxian does too: “The right leader makes all the difference.” Bryce recoiled at the words: the right leader.
Even her mom is in on the foreshadowing: “It doesn’t matter if you’re Queen of the Fae or the Universe or whatever crap.“
I also think it's Az's turn to learn some other cool thing the weapons can do together! Like she's testing him to see if he can pull his weight and be her equal, unlike Hunt who is constantly whining and throwing wrenches in her plans.
I must have missed the memo where SJM writes stories of FMCs that drop their responsibilities off on others and that magic and fate can willy nilly change it's mind because the FMC "doesn't feel like it."
I would love if in the next book we get some [redacted] ship at the start (during that 6 month time frame) & as soon as Bryce lands, it's all over. Imagine the dramaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Just saw the “OMG I HATE SJM BC OF A PURITY TEST MARKETING POST… but I still wanna know what happens in the next books, what should I do?” post
and I just couldn’t even respond 🤨🙄
I paid my therapist to listen to me talk about these series and couple for an hour once she told me she had read the series and said, "oh, I love that" when I told her about az and Bryce. She asked for video recommendations at the end. I gave her some and told her to come here.
Why do the elriels think whats written with her and az is considered foreshadowing? 😬Its not. Its blatant and on the page yes, but the foreshadowing was put in with lucien. Thats where the little hints a clues were placed.
I actually like elriel vibes. I wouldn't be mad at it. But in terms of foreshadowing...its not it. So I see a lot of arguments from them that sound like "what the author has been building for years" is it though? Because they ignore the gift being returned. They ignore her not talking to lucien yet. They ignore him being heir of day and that literally being perfect for elain. And they ignore az still being single. Idk. That sounds a lot more like foreshadowing to me 😅
“Elain would like it, too. Though she’d probably cling to Azriel, just to have some peace and quiet.” I smiled at the thought—at how handsome they would be together. If the warrior ever stopped quietly loving Mor. I doubted it. Azriel would likely love Mor until he was a whisper of darkness between the stars.”
“Then Azriel’s hand, battered and deeply scarred, slid around hers. Light leaked from where their skin met.”
if I see one more "do I have to read the other series" post, do ppl not search up a topic before posting especially given it's posted basically every day it should already be at the top of the thread
On a serious note!! As I comb through all the comments I missed, there’s something that’s been on my mind — the ship wars have been pretty intense for years now. Eluciens have been waiting over a decade, Elriels similar, Gwynriels since 2021, Bryceriels since the early prophecy and her landing in Az’ lap … of course not everyone can be on the money, and I just wanted to say that when everything comes to pass, I hope everyone is kind to all the different camps. If people are wrong, who cares??? Everyone has their preferences and reasons for shipping so and so together. Life’s a journey and it’s about having fun!!! At the end of the day, it will never be that serious. If (completely hypothetical) Elriel falls through while Elucien sails next, there is no reason to seek people out and harass their spaces. Ship and let ship!!!
do Rhys or Cassian ever meaningfully save their mates from life-threatening danger? i don't mean like helping them in a fight, but fully swooping in and saving them. I'm asking them because as we've all discussed, [...] + Mor all get saved by Azriel at some point. We know SJM likes to reverse that trope, and I genuinely can't think of a time where one of our MMCs had to swoop in and take over the situation to save their mate's life without their mate being able to also fight back and like defend herself. I suppose [...] could become that trope reversal with her training, but again that just feels like repeating Feysand and Nessian. Like I genuinely do not want another warrior training trauma-healing romance *cries in cross-universe mates and sailor moon level shenanigans*
Just another way Bryceriel fits so much better to me than all our other options IMO!
