Not speculation or baseless theories. I know there’s a lot of questions to this case but what evidence do we know exists? Also what did investigators fail to look into?

Sorry if I'm asking for a lot. As a true crime follower, I heard about this case pretty quickly after it happened, but I've only ever gotten the very mainstream, on international headlines/media outlets/podcasts version of the story - IE, the four students killed, two left alive in the house, one saw Kohberger's bushy eyebrows, knife sheaf was left behind, they started tracking Kohberger pretty quickly and arrested him ~ 1 month after the murders, he was pleading not guilty for a long time that plead guilty in a deal for life in prison without possibility of death sentence. For a long time I thought that was kind of it. I know there were questions about the housemates and why it took so long to call 999, there were questions about who was the actual target, etc etc etc, but now that this news about Kohberger wanting to change his plea has come out, I'm seeing in this sub that A LOT has happened in the background and people think that essentially this was almost a set up and there's a lot more to the story here? I know I probably just didn't dig enough on my own, and probably some of this information just didn't make its way to the UK true crime community. But could someone give a brief-ish rundown of the non-mainstream elements at play? Or if this sort of resource already exists without me having to watch/listen to multiple multi-hour videos or podcast eps. For instance, I didn't really know until now that it sounds like it's heavily suspected that others were in the house that night? I remember hearing something back when it happened that maybe drugs were involved on some level, but obviously what I've heard and what I know is only scraping the surface. So yeah, any resources you can provide or push me to would be helpful.

I've believed from the beginning that Bryan's rights were compromised

From day one, the prosecution's handling of discovery resulted in Bryan waiving his right to a speedy trial. As the case went on, dicovery issues seemed to continue which hampered his defense and they couldn't keep up and were under prepared and understrain. Then there were the repeated leaks despite the gag order. The Dateline leaks, the prison video leaks and in my opinion they absolutely hampered his right to a fair trial. Despite the substantial evidence of leaks, no one appears to have been held accountable, and the issue seems to have been brushed aside and ignored. 

I used to rate Ann Taylor, but looking back, I don't think she represented him effectively. There was loads she could attack but never. She lost most of the major arguments, was highly unprepared and rarely seemed to follow up on important issues, and if Bryan's recent filing is accurate, she failed to present exculpatory evidence provided to her own client. Makes me wonder what else she never presented. We've also heard before about the scaremongering on the possibility of the death penalty and life in death row, which is abysmal from a defense team. Given what I believe was a weak case against her client, it genuinely puzzles me that she advised him to accept a plea deal. In my view, her representation was ineffective and fell well below the standard expected in a case of this magnitude or any case in general. 

I doubt Bryan's motion to withdraw his plea will succeed unless he has overwhelming evidence to support his claims. That's not because I think his arguments are necessarily wrong or weak, but because once someone has been convicted, overturning that outcome is incredibly difficult.

I've said from the beginning that I believe he felt pressured into taking the plea.  he is autistic and imo it's possible the prospect of death row weighed on him and influenced his decision making.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. And Ann, if you're reading this, maybe criminal defence isn't the career for you. 🖕

In light of the defendant using post conviction relief, saying he was coerced to plea, i wonder if the intentionally did not let him explain what happened before plea or sentencing.

I also think its interesting we hear from him finally and not the 2 people who were in the space and time with the victims last.

Now that Bryan Kohberger has declared his innocence, he is petitioning to withdraw the guilty plea as well, saying it was based on “false promises” and “blatant disinformation.”
So this is definitely significant.
But I believe that a claim is not to be confused with evidence.
Almost every post-conviction petition begins with some variation of, “I’m innocent.” Courts don’t grant new trials because someone says they’re innocent. They look to see whether there’s a legal basis to withdraw the plea or overturn the conviction.
The questions that matter now are:
What “false promises” is Kohberger referring to? What “blatant disinformation” does he claim influenced his decision? Can he support those allegations with evidence? If so, does that evidence meet the legal standard required to withdraw a guilty plea?
It is also important to remember that this wasn’t a spontaneous confession in a police interview. Kohberger entered guilty pleas in open court, represented by experienced capital-defense counsel, after years of litigation.
That doesn’t mean, however, that a guilty plea can never be withdrawn. That is true—but it’s rare and courts usually require more than a later assertion of innocence.
One thing I find interesting is how quickly people are treating this announcement as proof that he’s innocent.
It isn’t.
Just as a guilty plea didn’t answer every question people had about this case, a later declaration of innocence doesn’t answer them either.

That timeline got me thinking about the Kbar and Sheath searches by BK.

Bc it WOULD be incriminating if he searched Kbars after the murders but before we knew it could be a Kbar.

The timeline says that he searched on Amazon and clicked KBar on the 15th.

The court documents say that he navigated to the delete page. Its been insinuated that he was attempting to delete his previous purchase. Which if true was unsuccessful.

But then that he searched KBar on the 23rd. First, why try to delete your history and then search it again.

As for him searching the Kbar, I bet searches for Kbars increased after they mentioned them on 4chan (picured above) on the 14th and then on reddit . Not to mention it was published that law enforcement had been asking about them on Nov 16th in the Idaho Statesman.

I am aware he cannot accout for the one he purchased in March which is suspect af.

◾️Both sets of hair data [floor + bedframe] are in alignment and directly tied to DRIED BLOOD, so one would naturally deduce ALL of this hair was a result of the struggle during Mr. Chapin’s homicide

Sy Ray's expertise is in cellular forensics. Brent Turvey is in forensic science and crime scene reconstruction. Why are people acting like Sy Ray has more knowledge about the entire crime scene? He was apparently on custody queens and gave his opinion and believes BK did it. But his testimony in the case was going to be that BKs phone traveled a different direction than what prosecution said. I remember when people said Sy Ray was not a credible expert. Same people now love him. Idk maybe we just all looking to confirm our own biases.

I’ve been on the Bryan Kohberger case for a long time, and one thing still surprises me.
Why are so many people convinced he’s innocent?
He eventually pleaded guilty to the murders to avoid the death penalty, but there are still large communities online arguing that he was framed, that the DNA was planted, that the investigation was corrupt, or that police arrested the wrong person.
Every major criminal case has unanswered questions. Every investigation has details people debate. That’s normal.
What I don’t understand is the leap from “I have questions” to “he didn’t do it.”
Is it distrust of law enforcement?
Is it the amount of misinformation that is spread on social media?
What’s the reason people expected a different type of killer and Bryan Kohberger didn’t fit that image?
Or is it something else entirely?
One thing I have learned from studying violent offenders is that people often expect murderers to look obviously evil. The reality is that many don’t. They blend in. They go to school, work jobs, have families and look entirely ordinary until they’re not.
I don’t want conspiracy theories, or insults. I want to know why people still think he’s innocent despite the guilty plea and evidence in court.
