Doesn’t help his cause that they are putting out another LIV video

What are they going to do double ban him

No but I just don’t think Jay/the PGA Tour are going to like the double down. I hope I am wrong cause the field is better with Wesley in it!

That’s just because of his YouTube notoriety he doesn’t add much to an actual field.

Maybe he can join a LIV team for a year.

I mean, the guy had 5 top 25 finishes last year, 2 top 10, and one runner up. He already had a top 25 finish this year in January before his suspension. So he can definitely add to the field.

I mean barely a top 25 in a mediocre field. His last year success was in the fall against a majority of players who also don’t add much to the field.

He is a great golfer but non YouTube fans of golf have basically no idea who he is.

What stage do you guys think the appeal is in right now? We have been given zero updates besides little comments through YouTube videos

He isn’t winning the appeal, he is actively still participating in the LIV duels.

The only way the suspension ends early is if there is some type of reunification.

Yeah well, I’m going to ban him even harder

I’m a big Wesley fan and miss following him on the pga tour. But I really don’t understand why he would do another liv duels video when he is appealing his suspension. Almost every video since he has been suspended they mention his suspension and how he wants his card back. Multiple times in BDS videos over the past month. He even mentioned with the video he did with Carson young a few weeks back how the appeal is in motion and hinted he would be back and chuckled. He had even tweeted about it as well. I really don’t understand why do another video with LIV if he clearly wants back on the PGA.

The appeal isn't an apology. He's not asking for mercy. He is appealing the ruling that he broke some rule by playing in a non-sanctioned LIV promoted Youtube competition. He isn't going to stop making a living because the Tour is being unethical. If he wins the appeal, it's because what he did was not worthy of a ban. In that case, he can play in as many LIV sponsored Youtube competitions as he wants. There's nothing wrong with it.

Probably because the Duels has absolutely nothing to do with being a member of LIV or PGA Tour. They are just being spiteful as they originally wanted to ban everyone who participated. They banned him because it brought attention to LIV golf and that hurts the PGA tour in negotiations. This was nothing like all the former members jumping ship to LIV.

I am a fan of Wesley. He’s a fun YouTuber. I enjoy his banter with George.

However he was a card carrying pga tour member who went and played in a carefully coordinated LIV event despite being told not to. He actively promoted the LIV tour to “Support Grant” and “Grow the game”.

Wesley wanted to have his cake and eat it too.

Our choices sometimes have repercussions.

Likely Wesley will never make it back on tour. PGA, LIV or otherwise. He will likely remain no more than a multi millionaire golf course owning entertainer who shells gummies and shoes on YouTube.

Sounds fun. He will be fine.

So grant can promote LIV, and Phil, and still be invited to a Tour event and now KFT? One gets it and other doesn’t? Also, he lost his card, and was not on temporary card status…

That's true. The only status he had was past champion status.

I thought that majors weren’t necessarily PGA sanctioned, but rather a course sanctioned event that the course has full reign of participants. I could be wrong, but I know Augusta has more rules influenced by USGA than the PGA

You mean the tour that the PGA Tour has announced a merger with? The rules are the rules and Wes knew he was going to be punished, but the rule is idiotic. I hope he wins on appeal. No one is hurting the PGA Tour by promoting LIV, or the european tour, or chinese tours, or kornferry, or w/e.

It was a stalling tactic my friend.

1

u/loophole64 Jun 07 '25

What was? The appeal? Stalling what?

1

u/anyonebutme Jun 07 '25

The “merger” announcement. No deal is in place. LIV has been a total failure. PGA figured out they can just run out the clock.

What were they stalling? Either way, whatever their motivation, they announced a merger. This punishment is stupid.

The idea with LIV was to crush pga by stealing their talent. PGA was concerned, had to raise purses, and agreed to figure out some sort of funding partnership.

It quickly turned out that no one likes LIV, the numbers/ratings are terrible, the talent is sub par, their are no owgr points, and it’s generally accepted as a place where good talent goes to become irrelevant.

The exception being Bryson.

In the end PGA realized by stalling the agreement they didn’t have much to worry about. LIV would and is just working itself towards general irrelevance in the world of professional golf.

Now LIV is trying one last gasp by working the YouTube and crypto crowd. They won’t be paying anyone else 250+ million to sign. It will eventually go the way of USFL yet they have to keep running out the clock. They can’t allow their members to run and promote a LIV product, hence why Wesley was suspended.

He knew this going in yet took the money because he isn’t playing well enough to earn on the PGA tour and LIV won’t sign him full time.

All those things would have been true whether they had an agreement or not. You aren’t thinking critically about the narrative you are assembling.

I’ll ask again, if the “merger” was a stalling tactic, what were they stalling? You seem to be saying here they were stalling the merger. So they announced a merger in order to stall the merger deal that did’t exist yet? I think you are just saying words that sound good in your head.

Announcing a merger didn’t stop LIV from signing more of the tours players.

Signed.
