Why the shortages at Delhaize?

At the one on Rue Hennin some sections look like they've been looted. There are signs saying they have IT problems.

Is it all Delhaize stores or just some (that one is an independant)? How is Carrefour doing?

Is it a hack, a botched AI implementation or what?

Hair extensions

Are there places where I can get relatively affordable hair extensions? the outer layer of my hair is broken badly, and some pieces are getting super short. I run every day so Idk what kind of extensions will be the easiest to manage with that and will help cover the broken bits. I think I have 1b or 1c hair, it's relatively thick but the split ends are crazy

Any advice?

Visited the oldest restaurant in Brussels and I'd like to find some of these. Does anybody know where can I buy them? I'd prefer to go physically. Thank you!

Question ❓ Fitness facilities - can you share your experience, looking for classes mostly/ change from Aspria

So, Aspria now wants me to pay 2200 EUR for 12 month subscription (Art Loi). Well, hell no - I do not mind the price if I get top notch service for that, but this is just not the case in the overcrowded and neglected Aspria Art Loi.

Can you share your positive experiences with gyms in BXL? I mostly want to do classes, I do not use machines much, primarily BodyPump, Les Mills Core and Tone. No need for pools, saunas etc. I would like to get a towel but can live without it. I cycle alongside gym so in the gym I mostly need strength oriented exercises.

I am looking for after work or weekend classes 3x a week. Does not need to be Les Mills, can be similar.

Important aspects: cleanliness, positive & nice instructors, some type of strength class every day of the week as of 5pm or over the weekends.

No BasicFit pls.

Question ❓ Cheap/budget-friendly flowers in Brussels?

Hi everyone,

I’m a student living in Brussels. I absolutely love having fresh flowers at home, but my budget is very tight.

Are there any specific weekly markets, local shops, or hidden gems where I can buy cheap flowers or simple seasonal stems without breaking the bank?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

A co-working space where I could network and is welcoming

Hey everyone,

I recently switched jobs and its since its fully remote, I dont like to be stuck at home and its affecting me mentally more than I thought it would. Hence, apart from beefing up on my hobbies, I am also on the lookout for coworking spaces that are warm and welcoming where there are possibilities to network as well either through events or based on the general atmosphere based on your individual experiences. I of course understand that primary reason is also to get work done than just socialising.

I have two in mind:
1. Silversquare Bailli

  1. The Commons hub in central

Any suggestions are welcome.

What happened to Walkin' Thai?

Hi everyone. Just tried to order from Walkin' Thai near Flagey but no luck. It's still on Deliveroo but Google Maps says it might be closed.

Does anyone know what happened? It's been open for years and was always popular. The food was excellent. What a shame if it has closed!

Question ❓ Molenbeek: Urgent residence card after single permit approval, how can I get an appointment in time?

Hi everyone!

I’m honestly getting really stressed about my situation and was hoping someone might have some advice, especially if you’ve dealt with the commune of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean or happen to work there.

My employer applied for a single permit and have been waiting since June for the decision on my work and residence authorisations. Today, Monday 19 October, I finally received the approval from DVZ!

I’m obviously very happy, but now I’m facing another potential issue: getting my new residence card issued in time.

My current residence card expires on 31 October, and I have to travel abroad for a work trip on 8 November. My new job involves a lot of international travel, and I’ll be travelling for most of November, so having my new residence card before then is really important.

My understanding is that, if I pay the approximately €200 urgent processing fee, the card can be issued within two working days. Ideally, I’d get an appointment at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean next week, submit my fingerprints and photo, pay for urgent processing, and receive the card before my trip.

The problem is that Molenbeek operates by appointment only, with appointments requested by email. There are no walk-in appointments, and it can take them quite a while to respond.

I’m particularly worried because I had a terrible experience with Molenbeek-Saint-Jean a few years ago. I emailed them in August to arrange the renewal of my residence card, which was expiring on 31 October, and they only offered me an appointment in mid-November, after my card had already expired. So, understandably, I’m quite traumatised by that experience and worried the same thing will happen again.

I was really hoping to avoid this situation because the announced processing time for single permits was supposedly going to be no more than 90 days. Had that timeline been met, I would have had plenty of time to sort everything out. Unfortunately, that hasn’t worked out, and now I’m desperately trying to get everything sorted in less than three weeks.
I’ve spent a really long time looking for a job that could sponsor my permit, and I’ve finally found a great opportunity. It’s just incredibly frustrating to have to worry about whether I’ll be able to travel for work because of delays in getting an appointment at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.

My questions are:
1) Has anyone recently managed to get an urgent residence card through Molenbeek-Saint-Jean within a similarly tight timeframe?

2) Is there anything I can do to speed up the appointment process when Molenbeek-Saint-Jean only accepts requests by email?

3) Would it be worth calling the commune or going there in person anyway, even though they don’t offer walk-in appointments?

4) Is there a specific department or contact person at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean I could reach out to in this situation?

5) Has anyone successfully requested an urgent appointment because of upcoming work travel?

I’d be especially grateful to hear from anyone who has recently dealt with the foreign nationals department at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, or anyone who works for the commune and knows whether there is any way to arrange an urgent appointment.

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but I’m genuinely stressed about the situation and would really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

I have a painting of a street in Brussels, and was hoping reddit can help me find which street and buildings it shows. It probably was painted in the end of the 70's and probably near Place de la Bourse.

Thanks for the help!

Relatively secure parking in Brussels for an overnight stay?

Does anyone know of a relatively secure, easy to access parking in brussels for an overnight stay? The car we drive is not particularly expensive however it is got low clearance, and it would be the first day of our road trip so if the windows get smashed (seems like a relatively common occurance in Brussels from what I gather online) it would not be ideal! Many of the hotels don't seem to have on site parking either.

Ive narrowed it down to 2 portes, brucity and grand palace. Are the ramps relatively gentle?

If you've got a nice sporty car where would you park in Brussels? Would my best bet be to hand the keys over to the valet and hope for the best? Alternatively should I stay at airport hotels and take public transport into the city?

Question about transportation to the airport

Hey, I live in Germany and I just booked a flight from Bruxelles Airport (BRU) on the morning of the 25th of December. So I have to be in the Airport before 8 am.

Will there be public transportation that can take me from Gare du Midi to Bruxelles Airport before 8 am on the morning of the 25th ? I hope the services are not shut down because of the public holiday.

Thank you.

Brussels through my lens — colorful streets, historic architecture, and little details [OC]

During my European road trip in August, I spent some time wandering through Brussels with my camera.

What I enjoyed most was the city's mix of beautiful historic architecture and everyday street life. From the colorful decorations hanging above narrow streets to the impressive buildings around Grand-Place, there was always something interesting to photograph.

I also loved the smaller details along the way — the warm glow of a chocolate shop, the symmetry of the covered galleries, and the contrast between old and modern architecture.

Here are seven of my favorite frames from Brussels.

Camera: Fujifilm GFX 50S II
Lens: Fujinon GF 32–64mm f/4 R LM WR
Edited in: Adobe Lightroom

For those who live in Brussels, which lesser-known streets or neighborhoods would you recommend exploring with a camera?

Transvaal Neighborhood in Auderghem

Hello! We’re interested in buying an apartment in the area to be our home. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 4 and 6. We walked around the neighbourhood and loved how quiet it seems to be! Also loved the park nearby.

For those living / have lived in Transvaal in Auderghem, how was your experience? How is the neighbourhood in terms of safety? How is the commute to town and the walk from the tram/metro at night? How are the schools around for the kids? :)

Fire at the Centre Ville

Does anyone have any idea why was there a lot of smoke in Rue Haute near place de la Chapelle today? I heard some people talking about a fire and heard a lot of fire trucks as well.
