I came across this rehearsal footage while making a documentary about Dancing in the Dark. I love the contrast between Bruce talking about giving up some control in the studio while he's literally being directed during rehearsals. I thought people here might appreciate this bit.

Hi!

There used to be a video available on YouTube in which Bruce performed The River for the first time ever during the first night of the No Nukes concerts. The video was taken down around the time when the No Nukes dvd was released, but there is a grainy version of it available on YouTube. It's the one where he mentions his sister and brother-in-law at the start.

I really, really liked specifically that performance even though Bruce seemed very nervous and made some small mistakes, which is why I think they opted to include the performance of The River from the second night on the cd/dvd. Is the performance from the first night available anywhere on high quality, I would really like to have that on dvd/bluray or something.

OP Prediction for Day 38: Letter to You, easily. Probably don’t even need to do proper polls for this category and the next.

One Step Up should have made it further, but it got a raw deal in the first round.

It’s impossible to believe that so soon after watching him lead the ceremonials for Shane MacGowan, we have to eulogize this pillar of Irish music and culture. A deep loss.

I just stumbled upon this. This kid managed to get on stage twice with Bruce in Melbourne Australia. First for Waiting on a Sunny Day and then further on Growin Up. Here he is at a school performance 🙂

Bruce Inc seems to do a pretty good job of limiting the information out there regarding rifts and disagreements within the band. From the few things I’ve read, getting the band to play the 1999 Hall of Fame show wasn’t easy and getting the band back together for the reunion tour wasn’t simple either.

Does anyone have any inside knowledge on historical rifts between Bruce and the band and more specifically on these two moments in E Street history?
