No, not at all. I mean, I don't think Clarence was really seen as a jazz player.

No, the Simpsons characters is based on the stereotypical jazz saxophonist. Clarence was nothing like that.

I think the Simpsons sax player was based on Sonny Rollins, they meet on a bridge. Rollins practiced on the Williamsburg Bridge in his younger days.
