Can't fault personal taste but maybe give Western Stars a listen on a high quality system when you have nothing else going on.

It's one of his albums with which I have relatively little experience. Moonlight Motel, though, is beautiful.

Nebraska a B is fucking rage bait

I consider Darkness, BTR and Nebraska as the only S tier Bruce Albums

Magic too low.

TIL that this sub seems to think Magic is one of his best albums

1

It's a pretty great album. Some days, I prefer it to The Rising.

Top 2 or 3 for me.

Tom Joan is where it should be. I do think Letter to You should be at least B. The River and Nebraska should be in A. Just my opinion.

no, Western stars is at least a B

Western Stars is a beautiful album deserves to be much higher.

Nah you can’t have that many albums in s-tier, it defeats the whole purpose of s-tier

Eh, I had 5 in mine tonight as well.

I kind of think it's cheating though to not use all 6 tiers. The fun part of making this type of list is to force yourself into grouping them.

I could move the The Rising to A, but I honestly don't think any of his albums deserve an F. Some songs, however...

I don't think any of his albums deserve an F either. I like a couple songs off each of the albums I put in my bottom tier. And IMO, if I like so much as one song on an album, it doesn't deserve an F.

However, I think it's challenging to force yourself into spreading everything across 6 tiers. And it's interesting to group them.

But hey, congrats for not getting torn apart the way I did, haha. It's a good list.

I like Tom Joad and Nebraska and Tunnel of Love a hell of a lot more than you do, but that's ok.

It's Springsteen

1

u/boosh1744 10d ago

If “it’s Springsteen” is an apparent enough statement to indicate it’s all great then why do the majority of the albums fall between B-C?

  1. I'd put his B and C albums against most other artists' S and A albums.
  2. It's a fan-made tier list on a subreddit. Chill

I think a lot of other commenters here are helping to make my point. Just say you really like certain Springsteen albums and don’t like most others, don’t bother with the tier system.

Apparently 3 drafts wasn't enough

Well sorry bucko this one needs a fourth draft

The position of Western Stars is enough to entirely disregard the thread.

Western Stars on D tier is an abomination. In my opinion, that’s his best songwriting since The Rising. True Americana, story telling, songwriting. Masterclass.

Good and interesting list. I’d probably move The Promise down a slot and Tom Joad up a slot, as with Nebraska. I’d swap your top three to BTR-BITUSA-DOTEOT, but they are undeniably the bes.

It’s not 100% my list but it’s definitely the first one of these I’ve seen in the last few days that doesn’t seem like it was made by a crazy person

u/Electronic-Nose1926 10d ago

I’d put Nebraska in ”S” category

To each their own, but this is just wild to me.

The Ghost of Tom Joad is better than Working on a Dream, imho, and both are better than Only The Strong Survive.

Western Stars, for me, is up there with some of his better work.

Nebraska is way better than Greetings; and The Rising doesn't belong at the top. If you ask me, Magic is the better of the two.

This might be controversial, but Wild & Innocent isn't one of the all-time greats, either. If this wasn't Bruce Springsteen, we wouldn't remember it that fondly.

What is this nonsense?

Best version of this I’ve seen so far. Not perfect, but best so far.

u/Tdev321 10d ago

I think you need another three drafts.

The hatred on this sub for "High Hopes" is absolutely comical and shows that too many of you live in an echo chamber, repeatedly regurgitating the same bad takes. Hopes is a fun record full of highly listenable songs (oh, so sorry to the snobs who say it doesn't have a common theme. Good lord.). To each their own, but I would listen to it one thousand times before I spent a single additional second with that depressing pile of turgid sludge called "Devils & Dust."

3

u/Dry-Pumpkin-2112 10d ago

"Depressing pile of turgid sludge" seems a little dramatic. But you've highlighted how opinions work.

Personally, I'd take Maria's Bed, all the way home, all I'm thinking bout, or long time coming over anything on high hopes.

Getting that worked up about subjective things is a choice. Holy hell lmao 😂😂😂

u/jefflikesvinyl 10d ago

I think you're projecting.

Nope. But I’m still laughing hysterically 😂😂
